I am filing a formal complaint against the moderator Charles Bailey4 regarding the "Cycling" subreddit due to inconsistent enforcement, biased moderation, and the active undermining of other users' posts. I apologize in advance if this thread is formatted incorrectly; I simply could not locate the specific guidelines for submitting a grievance.
In the "Used Gear & Classifieds" thread, Charles Bailey4 tends to delete posts based on his own subjective whims rather than following established community rules. Even if moderators are permitted to set their own guidelines, the double standards being applied here are significant.
Charles Bailey4, along with another user, teamed up to disparage a third user's listing. While criticizing an unfair deal is one thing, using multiple posts to tear down an ad that fully complied with both sub rules and thread guidelines is another matter entirely. Perhaps the seller overestimated their bike's value by $300-$133, but that is their prerogative, and a moderator's comments carry undue weight among the community.
After I attempted to explain that their behavior was inappropriate, they turned on me. Following several deletions, the only remaining posts are those labeling me as a scammer or a fraud. To make matters worse, Charles Bailey4 explicitly called me a scammer in his own explanatory post. Furthermore, they singled out my listing to mock and undermine it, despite the price being perfectly reasonable.
To top it off, he followed up with a provocative comment suggesting, "See what we have to deal with...", implying I am somehow incompetent.
In a private message sent regarding my warning, he even noted that he doesn't care about the actual market value of items. If the valuation isn't his concern, I fail to see why he feels the need to critique the ads. The only logical conclusion is that he was trolling and abusing his authority.
I believe this type of conduct is unacceptable and warrants disciplinary action. I am willing to accept a few warnings for my tone, but moderators should be held to the same standard and held accountable for their mistakes through a formal apology.
