Can the moderators on the diaspora forum explain their total lack of professionalism and their sheer, idiomatic incompetence?

And more importantly, how is it even allowed—who gave them the green light—to hand out bans and penalties based purely on their own whims and moods, even when a post strictly follows the subforum rules?

Not to mention the fact that not a single moderator here actually participates in discussions or contributes anything of value to the forum's activity whatsoever. Just look at their post counts from the last month. Zero!

If the moderators aren't actually interested in the subforum they’re supposed to be running, then why are they doing it at all? You should just appoint someone from the staff who actually cares about the diaspora and lives abroad.

There are plenty of candidates living in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and I could go on.

Can we please see some actual changes made to revive this community? Any change would be better than watching this place slowly die a slow death.

Thanks

And don't even get me started on how none of the mods actually participate in discussions or contribute anything at all to the community. I mean, seriously, look at their post counts from the last month. Not a single one!

There are plenty of candidates from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and I could go on forever.

Can we please just make some changes to breathe life back into this place? Honestly, any change would be better than watching this slow death we're currently experiencing.

Thanks

I totally agree with what was said, mostly because Katherine isn't really doing her job as a moderator. I've tried pointing out issues with how discussions are handled and the general lack of understanding of what this forum is about before, but nothing changed. What she’s actually managed to do is drive away the hundreds of people who were originally interested in just following along with PDF Canada; they ended up starting a Wok Holiday page on Facebook instead. Now, all the actual discussions happen there—even about the most trivial things involving Canada... I mean, you can even talk about your Canadian pets over there. I guess I should thank the forum for that, though, because it made Facebook way more fun and lively, and I actually managed to meet some people in person because of it. Also, what this site clearly doesn't get is that as visitor numbers drop, so will the ad revenue from those tiny little banners they decided to grace us with on the side. And most importantly, once I've wasted enough time dealing with stupid stories run by people who barely know how to manage PHP, I'll just shut this whole forum down for good...

There are plenty of candidates across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany, not to mention everywhere else.
Can we please see some actual change to revitalize the diaspora section? Honestly, any kind of shift would be better than watching this place slowly die a quiet death.
Thanks

I am backing your suggestion with everything I've got.
It’s honestly pathetic when a moderator shuffles people who just want to talk about Australian politics and society over to the PDF Politics section, where they end up getting lost between threads debating whether Milomir Bandić should be the Mayor of New York City or what kind of tie Jaca is wearing today.

I would prefer if certain individuals returned to posting within the diaspora community, as I found their contributions quite engaging. However, that is unlikely to occur, given they have made their reasons for abandoning this PDF very clear. 😢

Regards to mrtvoj_hladnoj, kokuzu, and others who might be reading this... and that includes you, Michael Lewis52.

See how convenient that is? Personally, I kind of lost interest in that PDF after a while—mostly because of that freezing cold weather and the constant flu going around. 🙂
They were just boooooooooooring. 😍

Perhaps I don't view this forum as some monumental pillar of existence where everyone is required to be flawless or adhere strictly to the spirit of the PDF.
I subscribe to a much more relaxed philosophy: just stay chill.

Sure, there were always those guys posting under the guise of just being "chill... and laid back." But hey, I get it—some people actually find that style appealing.
Besides, we could have been stuck listening to that old-timer Vilk drone on in the group—it’s honestly a shame that isn't the norm anymore. :sarkazam:

The bottom line is that Katherine just doesn't have a clue when it comes to moderating discussions—she’s constantly deleting posts without any real reason and, frankly, she just hasn't mastered the basics of being a moderator...
There are plenty of candidates out there who are far more capable than her—people who actually show up and stay active on the PDF Canada forums.

On top of that, we could have used this flock to pick on that old-timer Vilk; it’s honestly a shame that isn't how things work anymore. : sarcasm:

I apologize for our crude behavior, which clearly hasn't met the standards expected of a forum like Reddit!
I have no intention of dragging Vilk into this specific discussion because the subject at hand is moderation—a topic upon which I hold firm views—rather than him. I would rather keep his name out of it, as I have actually learned a thing or two in my 39 years, even if my way of speaking remains, shall we say, unrefined.

I don't want to drag Vilk into this thread because we aren't talking about him—we're talking about moderation, and I have plenty of thoughts on that. But I'll keep him out of it... I mean, I've picked up a few things in my 39 years, even if my way of speaking is still a bit unrefined and blunt.

I wasn't aiming at you personally because, honestly, I don't even remember who you are (aside from your handle, which is a bit blurry). But if you felt targeted by my outburst, what can I say? The internet is a massive place... plenty of room for everyone else.🤷

I did not recognize myself in that description, though I have never once told anyone their performance was subpar, even when I clearly identified it as such. My apologies for the misunderstanding. It will not happen again.

If the mods aren't actually interested in the section they manage, why bother? Give the role to someone who actually cares and lives abroad.

Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. Everyone I know (myself included) walked away because this has become one of the most boring corners of the internet. Nobody expects moderators to be world-class professionals, but a little bit of common sense would go a long way.

🤣 Wait, does this forum even still exist?? 🤷

Give my best to Bill if he’s still kicking, and shout out Una, Tudej, and Cronja if you run into them.

Cheers, everyone 👋
