I spent about two hours yesterday working on some odd task when I finished, I noticed my left foot felt completely numb. I stood up and tried to stretch it out, which helped just a little bit at first. I honestly figured it was nothing more than poor circulation from being stuck in one position for so long, and that it would eventually pass. However, today things have taken a turn; I can't put any weight on my heel, and I've lost the ability to lift my foot upward. When I try to step down on my heel, my foot just collapses forward toward the ground. There isn't actually any pain involved, but as I walk, I find myself tripping because the front of my foot catches on the floor. I haven't made an appointment with my doctor yet, but if anyone here has experienced something similar or knows what might be going on, could you please let me know?

I stood up, tried to stretch the damn thing out, and felt a tiny bit better. Figured it was just bad circulation from being stuck in one awkward position. Well, fast forward to today and I can't put any weight on my heel, and I can't even lift my foot up. If I try to stand on my heel, my foot just flops downward. It doesn't actually hurt, but when I walk, I'm basically tripping over the front of my foot. Haven't hit up a doctor yet. If anyone knows what's going on, let me know.

Sounds like an acute injury to the common peroneal nerve—likely compression in the lower leg. You need to see a neurologist.

Kneeling—with some decent knee pads—is probably the smarter move here.
