Africa - it’s not even about those two people.

The real issue here is that I am seeing a pattern of injustice.
I am systematically observing moderators being insulting.
A moderator gets hit with a red card for being incredibly offensive, yet they get to keep their position?! 😲

I don't need moderator privileges to see what’s happening right before a post gets nuked. Please, just don't insult my intelligence.

My point is that moderators and admins shouldn't have any reason to be insulting users in the first place.

If the official policy is to remove trolls, then shouldn't those people actually be removed too, right?

Look—take Persephone, take The Euclid Case, take Ex Anais, and take my situation with Yildirim part one, and now this... do I really have to go digging through every single post just to prove how these moderators behave and why it isn't okay?

No, I don't have deleted posts, but I'm certain there's plenty of material left to find.

I mean, they were straight-up insulting users, and some of us still remember that clearly. Then the posts would just vanish. Like they were punished. Fine, but the insults didn't stop. As far as I can tell, whatever "punishment" was handed out didn't actually achieve anything.

A community where mods and admins feel entitled to insult its users isn't a healthy community. It just isn't, damn it.

Rebecca Phillips57 said:@ hollowviper97 you're saying the owner appoints an admin just so they can dodge the dirty work.😬
I know exactly how that goes because I used to be an admin for an owner who didn't want to deal with "that kind of stuff," but honestly, we kept things on track by being incredibly consistent with the rules—whether it was a brand-new account or a longtime regular—and making sure everyone knew exactly where they stood if they crossed the line.

That doesn't mean he can't fire them if he decides they aren't cutting it, or if enough people start complaining that the admin isn't actually living up to the responsibility they were given.
I don't really get what your point is here.😕
Think about it: a CEO at a place like FedEx hires their own staff, but they also hand out pink slips the second someone stops meeting expectations or fails to handle the job properly.

And honestly, do you really believe we should grant them carte blanche to act however they want, or speak however they please, just because some absolute maniac decided to latch onto them?

To answer the question in the title: yeah, this forum is private property. The owner could decide tomorrow to shut the whole thing down to new members, or just ban everyone with an odd user id and there wouldn't be a damn thing anyone could do about it.

Exactly. The owner, not you.
You aren't the owner.
Since we're playing the "examples" game, the owner could also just fire you and issue a permanent ban tomorrow if they decide they don't need you anymore.😉

Chloe Green61 said:Ash and everyone else who’s making such a huge stink about these two—do you actually have concrete info on what went down behind the scenes? Are we talking deleted posts, private warnings, moderator-admin sit-downs, or are you all just jumping at the chance to stir up drama and chaos? Honestly, take a second and think about it.

I’ve been in this exact position before. Most people here pretty much know who I am, regardless of whatever handle I’m using, and even Kemik is still around (she had a different username back then too) from the old admin team. With all due respect, your warnings, your interventions, all of it... it drags on for three long years and moves way too slow. While you guys are busy reacting, the victim has already been banned a hundred times over. It’s incredibly frustrating.

I should probably give you some credit, because your intentions are good (Kemik certainly had them, specifically speaking about her). But you can't play guard dog forever. You have to realize that people eventually snap when they see a newcomer—actually, it's always the same person—reappearing under a new identity. And here, it isn't even strictly the case.

Let’s be real: a permanent ban doesn't mean anything. That’s something only the police can settle. I'm saying this so that whoever needs to hear it in this sad little saga actually does.

And Euclid? Yeah, sure, the guy was provoked (slightly). But look at how he reacted. I wanted to comment on that somewhere, but I decided against it. What happened wasn't anything other than a deliberate attempt to cause harm. Regardless of how much people trusted his "methods." You have to judge the intent just as much as the action. I felt bad for Dainty; I really don't think she deserved that.

edit: actually, never mind. I'm over it.

Since nobody’s actually answering what we're even supposed to be talking about here, this whole thing feels like a massive waste of everyone's time and bandwidth. Just a total drain on my energy.
