I wanted to put this off, but I just can't.

C/P:

Betty Sanders said:Rachel Jones8, what did you end up enrolling in this year?

Hey. said:Nah.

Betty Sanders said:No way? 😕 You think you didn't post anything? 😕
So you're still obsessing over the fine print like you've actually enrolled? You're just confusing everyone here with all those messy questions and half-baked explanations. 😕

Look... are you ever going to stop fact-checking everything? The people you have absolutely nothing to do with.Just so we're clear: any future posts that are just asking questions or fishing for explanations are going to be flagged as trolling. If that happens, go ahead and complain to whoever you want. Hope I made myself clear.

I’ve gotta push back on that moderator (before she decides to hand out penalties or scrub my posts), because:
They just assume I have nothing to do with the topic and start throwing around warnings like they own the place. Now they’re banning me from asking questions and telling everyone else to just walk away if they don't like it. Seriously?
Everything looks good and follows the rules, but I’m stuck on one thing and need some clarity. Why are there quotas for the FFZG if first-year students are supposedly covered by the Department? If they decide not to pay, does that come out of the quota or what? Who actually picks up the tab then?

The moderator just decided on her own that I have nothing to do with those "facts"—which, honestly, does it even matter if I’m just asking questions? We don't even know each other, so how can she assume my inquiries aren't relevant? She actually threatened to ban me if I keep looking for info, basically calling my questions "trolling." Isn't that a bit much? Feels pretty irresponsible to me.
Look, I really need some clarity on how these tuition payments are going to work. This isn't me trolling; I genuinely need the facts. If anyone has actual answers or even just some useful info, please help a girl out? Since everything is such a total question mark right now, maybe someone smarter than me has figured something out? I’d seriously appreciate it.
If someone doesn't have an answer to my question, I'm totally fine with that. It's way better than getting hit with bitter, useless comments.

If things look good, cool; if they don't, also cool... but the bans and threats being thrown around here are just unnecessary and awkward.
Not to mention insults like "you're stupid" or "how many times do I have to tell you..."
Especially when she claims I can complain to whoever I want... which basically means there's no point... since she can just label anything as trolling. She could write:
If you don't stop questioning facts that have absolutely nothing to do with you
and
I'll interpret every single future post asking a question or seeking clarification as trolling and penalize you accordingly, so feel free to go complain to whoever you want. Hope I made myself clear.

...which seems to mean I can't do anything, that she knows facts she couldn't possibly know (it's just a forum, she doesn't know me), that she's calling lies that have nothing to do with me, and threatening to punish me while telling me complaining is pointless... basically saying it'll be for nothing.
Is that really how it works? Can a moderator just block and even punish me—someone who just wants to get some info—simply because they decide I'm trolling or that I have nothing to do with the facts?
Come on, people, does everyone really not care if they end up having to pay $2000 (or more)? Regardless of what the Department decides regarding first-year students?
Or isn't it super important to know that if you're a tenth or thirtieth-year student (depending on your major), you'll still have to pay, no matter what this pending decision turns out to be?
And maybe older students know something about those quotas... like how 50% of enrolled students pay while the other 50% don't...

Check it out... here's the rest... Betty Sanders is relentless:
Betty Sanders said:Look... You aren't studying at the liberal arts college...
And you didn't enroll in anything at the liberal arts college this year either...
Yet you're acting like your life depends on our answers, which we don't even know ourselves! All we can do is guess what will happen and how...

If they don't know the answer, I'd honestly prefer they just say so... instead of one person saying one thing and another saying something else. If nobody knows, then nobody knows... but hey, Markec and Shokor gave an answer... hopefully it's right.
Though, looking at
Betty Sanders said:But nobody knows! Is that not clear enough?? Nobody alive knows how this is all going to turn out in the end! For heaven's sake!

It feels like you can't really rely on that answer.

It's not embarrassing if someone doesn't know, so they just don't answer or they just write... last year was like that, and I don't know about this year... but everyone is answering, commenting, calling others stupid, and throwing 🤦 at them... if there's no answer, fine, skip it, it means nobody knows... and that's that. We'll find out soon enough.
(even though these quotas have been around forever, so I figured older students would know what they're getting into)
The fact that you have absolutely zero connection to the topic you’ve taken over and are just confusing everyone else (I know, I'm repeating myself) proves that I'm actually trolling. Up until now, I’ve been answering all your questions as best as I could, but that ends here. I'm politely asking you to stop. If you pull this again with another question or keep this thread going, I'll report every single one of your posts until the forum auto-bans you. So, take your pick.
And I'm asking the rest of the users in this thread to please stop responding to your questions.

Fine, guess I just won't ask anything anymore...
...but seriously, how pathetic..
And this is super important to me. I'm not trolling, I'm just asking. Why do people lose their minds over questions? Shokor gave me an answer, and I hope it's right.
It looks like I have to bail on a topic I'm actually really interested in just because a moderator can't judge people fairly and doesn't know where the line is—they're totally overreacting.
My intentions were good. Hers weren't. 😢
And where does she get the idea (the claim) that just because I don't "have absolutely any connection to the topic"... that proves I'm trolling? I mean, if she's wrong and I *do* actually know what I'm talking about, then it doesn't prove I'm trolling, right? At least by her logic. Can she really decide I'm trolling just based on that? On what basis?
She's labeling my questions as trolling just because I get all these conflicting, confusing answers (okay, maybe I am a bit slow) and I follow up with more questions to clarify things. If someone knows, great; if not, whatever. But $6,000 isn't pocket change to me, so the answer matters.
But hey, I guess it's forbidden now...
Thanks.
P.S. Sadly, I assume this will be useless, probably even backfire, but I'm right, so I had to say it—I'm not trolling, I'm just asking. It would be nice if people just answered if they knew, or skipped it if they didn't, instead of bullying me, belittling me, and making stupid comments... calling me something I'm not... and in the end, nobody even has a straight answer. Even though everyone acts like they're so smart and chimes in. And then at the end, it's just "who knows..." and comments like "how are you dumb enough not to get this."
If they already think I'm dumb, a little empathy wouldn't hurt.

Alright... First things first... No one on this thread called you stupid. My PDF is practically sterile, and calling someone names is an instant ban for harassment here. I don't hand out bans for things I wouldn't even say myself—so there's that.

As for everything else... You just dropped into this subforum out of nowhere—like a bolt from the blue. We don't know who you are or what your deal is.
See, people looking for info in the Student Corner usually come with a backstory—they’re either students themselves, or maybe a relative or a friend. And while there's no rule saying you have to state who you are, they always do it—it's just basic psychology and statistics—Boxer, I'm asking for a friend... Hey, here's a worried/confused mom... and so on. You haven't said a single thing.

@ regarding payments
Both Shokor and Markec have explained how the payment situation stands several times, but they were treating it as an assumption, not a settled fact. I could have explained the payment situation to you the same way, but I decided to stay quiet since nothing is certain yet.
And it isn't certain.
It’s not even confirmed if anyone among the students will actually be paying anything. Markec explained very clearly how much the university expects/needs, and the school doesn't really care where the money comes from—whether it's from students or the Department.
With all due respect, I honestly can't wrap my head around why this still isn't clear to you after several detailed responses.

@ trolling
Do you think it's okay for me to just kick someone off a thread? Of course not. 🙏
Everyone has every right to speak up, ask questions, comment, or join in on a discussion. But by constantly asking for clarification on top of clarifications on top of clarifications, you've taken over the thread. Even though people have explained everything to you thoroughly—those two mentioned above in great detail, plus a few others chiming in—it's still not clicking for you... 🙏 People simply don't know what else to tell you, or how to explain it so that it finally sinks in. And it's not just that—you keep reposting the same question until you find someone else to start the whole cycle over again... 🙏 But you still don't get it! 🙏

Freshmen want to ask about specific courses... what the professors are like, and stuff like that. But they can't—or rather, they won't—because every other question gets lost in the endless loop of explanations regarding your own repetitive questions and explanations of explanations, which is what you're actually doing. 🙏

And I can't allow that to happen on this thread (not on any of them). That's why I labeled you a troll and asked you to step away from the topic.

That's all from me on this thread.

It feels like there’s no end to this when someone targets you... especially when they know you can't really fight back. They say whatever they want right to your face, but who's actually listening to your side? If I complain about a moderator, it’s not even their job to deal with it—it goes to some higher-up to judge, and they rarely do.
Thank God everyone else is being polite and asking questions nicely. Nobody ever asks a follow-up question like the one I just did, which got me another strike (that's my second this month, and only two in the last three years... though technically it was three strikes all at once within 5 minutes because I didn't stop doing what I was told I shouldn't be doing... I didn't realize I'd been warned, so I got hit with three at once, then another one next year)

Does anyone have an explanation for this? (Other than the moderator who keeps picking on me and handing out points and strikes while I'm stuck filing appeals... I don't need that, because I already know the answer: they'll just say I deserved it, even though I know it's totally unfair and baseless)

I don't know where to post this so I'll try here. If someone gets into college during the summer session, but it wasn't their first choice, and then they apply for the fall semester and get into a different school they actually want, do they have to buy new paperwork from the first school or what? And is there a fee for that? I read that some universities charge a withdrawal fee of 100-$67

Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question, but can I ask a follow-up?
If that wasn't your top choice and you don't actually want to study what was listed under your first pick, why wasn't it removed from your list? Why didn't someone else take that spot if they actually wanted it? Instead, it just sits there like this?
Or... maybe (if that's how it works) you enroll in something that interests you slightly, and then try for what you really want during the fall term?
Or... are you stuck with what you enrolled in, even if you end up going somewhere else?

I honestly don't see what's so terrible here... or where the "trolling" is. I'm just asking a legitimate question. Plus, the response I got was great, and I gave her the best advice possible (suggesting she check with the registrar or become a student advisor, and she thanked me for the tip)... so where is the trolling?
I'm genuinely curious why people who know they won't attend a certain school still leave it on their application and take up a spot. How does that work if they already know they want something else? That's why I'm asking. I should be allowed to ask, right? I wasn't insulting anyone or trying to start a fight or anything like that.
I'm just asking (and I did get an answer, it just got deleted, so I can't show it here—but we had a very nice, civil, and short conversation where she asked and I gave constructive advice), so I'm not trolling. This constant punishing and labeling everything as "trolling" is getting ridiculous... you can't write or ask anything without it being called spam or trolling...
There are no words left... trying to find justice here is impossible. The moderator will just swoop in again and say, "You're wrong, I know best." No one ever looks at the actual context to tell the moderator, "Hey, chill out, you're overreacting."
I come to this forum to clear my head, kill some boredom, and maybe help out with advice if I can... but some moderators basically kill any desire to participate (which seems to be their main goal... they hunt for straws, call things "trolling," and quickly delete posts just so they can suppress a perfectly fine conversation between two people... she answered, I advised, she thanked me, end of story) and hand out points and strikes just to bully people, kick them off, or... I don't even know what the endgame is for harassing people like this... It makes me afraid to post anything, because someone might decide it's spam or trolling and slap me with 35 or 100 points just for nothing.
I honestly can't believe anyone actually cares about this, or that someone would even bother reviewing a moderator's decision—since nobody even acknowledged my appeal in the first place. But here we are... if anyone takes a look and realizes there was zero basis for these penalties, please just strip the strike and the points from my account.
Otherwise, I guess my only choice is to steer clear of certain moderators' threads. I’ve been trying to keep my posts minimal and straight to the point, but people just love to troll, don't they? If a mod just wants to hand out strikes like candy, there's nothing you can do... which is pretty much what I was told directly.

Quote from the moderator (this was from before the actual strike):
"Look... if you don't stop questioning facts that have absolutely nothing to do with you... I'm going to treat every single one of your follow-up questions or requests for clarification as trolling and penalize you accordingly. Complain to whoever you want after that. Hope I made myself clear."

The moderator basically decided on their own—through pure guesswork, apparently—that I have nothing to do with the topic. Now they're banning me from questioning anything, asking for clarification on conflicting answers, and so on... all while making threats. They're basically saying I have no recourse because they can do whatever they want... which is exactly what's happening here.
Thanks to anyone who reads this and gets it... even if you don't say anything. And if someone actually recognizes the injustice and fixes it—huge THANKS.
