My connection is crawling right now, and this forum isn't helping matters. Some subforums load just fine, but others keep erroring out—I’m having to refresh 20 or 30 times just to get in. Threads struggle to load once they hit a certain number of posts too; everything just breaks and throws an error, even with images and JavaScript disabled.

Maybe something optimized like Tapatalk would fix this, though I haven't been able to find a desktop version of a similar app specifically tailored for forums like this. Just my two cents.

I've tested this across several different browsers and the result is always the same. It seems to be isolated strictly to this site; I'm not running into any issues anywhere else, including other forums.🤷

Try downloading Chrome, then you can use the specialized features within the browser settings. If you enable certain optimization modes, the traffic gets routed through high-speed servers that compress the data before sending it to you. That might just clear up whatever glitch you're dealing with.

Also, if you go into your content filter and disable things like */ads.*, it could help. You can find that under Settings-preferences-advanced-content -blocked content

I tweaked my Firefox settings so it shows the "connection reset" error as a pop-up message instead of a full blank webpage. At least now I can actually see whatever parts of the site managed to load before it died 😁

I'll try using Google Chrome to see if I can download anything, since this current connection is looking pretty sketchy 😁

Google Chrome works, thanks 😍

Even with turbo turned on and images disabled, it’s still dragging compared to Firefox, much to my chagrin 😁

Even with Google Chrome Turbo enabled and photos turned off, the browser feels sluggish compared to Firefox. It's just not keeping up. 😁

You’ll have to manually disable those quirks if you want to communicate with everything else out there. With Google Chrome Turbo, you're essentially just talking to the Google Chrome proxy servers, which saves you a bit on data usage. However, they still need to maintain a connection with the forum itself and handle things like DDoS protection, timeouts during heavy traffic, and all that other stuff. Though, I assume they've been optimized specifically for that—given how much they brag about performing better under the exact kind of conditions you're facing.

Honestly, the whole forum feels a bit... half-baked. At least when it comes to certain things.

It’s undeniably faster when everything is toggled on—you know, images, Java, and all that. But once you turn those features off, there isn't much of a speed boost to speak of. The real win is that it feels way more stable and just doesn't crash at all.😳

How did you set that up?

I guess your connection isn't actually that slow if Opera is crawling compared to Firefox, then. Honestly, this site feels like it's running on some obscure, outdated code that nobody else on the internet even uses anymore.

Try going into your extensions and disabling AdBlock first. Turn off animations too—you don't need to kill images because the site looks terrible without them—but if you have an ad blocker running, you might even need to disable things like Flash. You can manage all that stuff in Opera by hitting F12.
