Suggestion for the admins regarding image uploads

Lately, there has been an influx of posts featuring images that seem to bleed right off the edge of the screen—it’s a bit distracting, to be honest. I was wondering if it might be possible to adjust the settings so that any image exceeding the standard screen width simply cannot be posted...
I mean, perhaps we could implement a rule where a post is blocked if the image is too large, or alternatively, have the system automatically convert oversized images into simple links rather than displaying the full file...

There’s actually this feature where images show up at a reasonable size in posts, but then you can just click them to see the full, high-res version... though, obviously, we aren't going to see that happening on this particular forum here.

I'm trying to understand the logic here: why was the limit for images per post slashed from 10 down to 9?

It's becoming quite common recently (especially over on the Foodie forums)—it reaches a point where neither the images nor the actual text fit within the frame...
Is there any way to address this? Perhaps something like:

We’ve been chasing a fix for this exact issue for at least ten years—probably even longer... For a decade now, the academics handling the technical upkeep of this forum just won't (or maybe they can't?) actually roll it out, even when the admins are practically begging them to, and even though the owner says they're totally on board.

I honestly think we can pretty much bet on the fact that it isn't going to happen now either 😬

Wouldn't this be a great way to handle things?
