A fifth-place finish is still a win; we're sitting right there at the top. This was just a transitional tournament, and honestly, luck wasn't on our sideβthe officiating certainly didn't help us secure a medal.
But let's look at the hard truth:
We fell short. We played three absolutely critical matches with criminal incompetence, while we coasted through games where the stakes were much lower.
The goalkeeper simply couldn't rise to the occasion when it mattered most.

The next handball tournament is being held in Mexico. I can't help but wonder what the atmosphere is going to be like over there.

Olympic qualifiers, and we're hosting: USA, Iceland, the Asian runner-up, and third from the Americas. Top two move on.
If things go sideways, we could end up seeing a European champ who didn't even crack the top 4 at the World Cup. That would mean weβd be heading into qualifiers against the 4th place finisher from this World Cupβmaybe Sweden or Spain depending on who hostsβplus the runner-up from Asia and third from the Americas.
Anyway, looks like a pretty smooth group to me.

Fifth place is basically a win if you ask me, honestly we're right up there with the big dogs, this whole thing was just a warm-up tournament anyway, we definitely didn't have any luck on our side, and let's be real, those refs were totally screwing us over when it came to grabbing a medal

What a circus. π€¦ I even switched my focus from Denmark to our team. π€¦
Basically, over the last five years, weβve fluctuated between peak performance and total collapse, only to end up in 5th place both times. π
