Looking for monitor recommendations?

Hey everyone, I’m looking to pick up a new workstation for some multimedia projects, and I figured it might be the perfect time to grab a new monitor too.

I could really use some advice on which of these two would be the smarter move for my setup.
24'' LCD ASUS

23'' LED AOC

These are my top contenders right now. Generally speaking, I'm leaning toward something larger, maybe up to $500, but at the end of the day, I just want the best bang for my buck in terms of quality...

AOC monitors are essentially the budget-friendly underdog of the tech world—they look like they might cut corners, but then you actually use them and realize the quality is absolutely top-tier. Honestly, that AOC lineup is something else.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty much stuck with whatever Best Buy has in stock right now.

That monitor you suggested looks absolutely perfect, though.

So, I ended up grabbing this Samsung monitor because their specs were totally misleading—they straight-up claimed it had a DVI-D port when it actually doesn't. Huge mistake on my part. Honestly, I’m still kicking myself over it. It's one of those things where you think you're set, then you get home, plug everything in, and realize you've been played. Total bummer.
The picture looks alright through the VGA port, I guess, but let’s be real—it’s just not quite there. It’s missing that certain something because we're dealing with an analog signal here, and honestly? It just doesn't hit the same as a crisp digital connection.
So, I tried hooking this thing up via HDMI, right? And honestly, it’s a total joke. I can't even get full HD resolution to stick, and the picture quality is actually way worse than when I was using the old VGA cable. It’s bizarre. Like, if I’m just sitting there cranking out a movie on my PC, the image looks totally fine—super crisp, no complaints there. But trying to actually *work* on the computer? Forget about it. Absolute nightmare. It's like trying to paint a masterpiece through a foggy window. Total disaster.

I had no idea you couldn't hit full HD through an HDMI port, let alone that it could look worse than VGA. That's news to me...

I don't really plan on watching movies on my PC anyway; I'll mostly be doing video editing, so I definitely need to make sure whatever monitor I pick has a DVI-D input.

Both of the monitors I was looking at should be perfectly fine in that regard then.

EDIT: Did a little digging online, and apparently HDMI should be identical to DVI-D, just with the added bonus of carrying audio. The video signal itself should technically be the same thing...

So, I wanted to circle back and see if anyone had some thoughts to share on this..
