About six months ago, I took a nasty fall and messed up my elbow joint. My X-ray didn't show any obvious fractures, and the doctors at the urgent care told me it would probably just be sore for maybe fifteen days or so...

It’s been half a year now, and I can still feel it whenever I'm in certain positions. There's this specific pain right by the ulnar side of the joint.

I've heard some people say it's actually normal for it to ache for a full year. The impact was pretty heavy, but I guess I still feel like this might be overkill.

Has anyone else here dealt with a recovery process that dragged on this long?

It’s been half a year now, and I still feel it depending on how I move. I get this sharp pain right by the ulna.

Has anyone else here dealt with a recovery period that lasted this long?

It's possible you sustained some tendon damage, which would explain why it's still hurting.
Or, there's a chance they missed a fracture entirely.

Are you able to use your arm normally?

There isn't any pain even under full load, provided my wrist stays properly aligned with my forearm. However, in certain positions, even minimal pressure causes issues. If someone applies leverage to that joint, it doesn't take much force at all before I start feeling pain right there near the ulna.

Do tendons generally require a long time to recover?

Immediately after the injury, I actually thought I might have fractured my ulna because the bone felt like it was shifting relative to my thumb when pressure was applied to the joint. It’s likely I damaged the ligaments within the joint, allowing for that kind of displacement. There wasn't any swelling, or at least nothing significant.

Maybe I should at least check with the physical therapists regarding how long the recovery process actually takes. Is it even plausible that someone might be looking at a full year of rehab?

Hey everyone,

Back on June 6, 2015, I had a moment of pure frustration—one of those days where you just lose it—and ended up punching a wall with my right hand.
It hurt like hell at the time, obviously, though I was still able to move it.
A small bump eventually formed right on my pinky knuckle; I initially figured it was just standard swelling or some kind of tendon strain from the impact, but honestly, it’s still there today and hasn't improved one bit.
The thing doesn't actually ache unless I press on it, and my hand functions perfectly fine, but I went in for some imaging yesterday—only to find out the doctor reviewing my scans is away on vacation. Because of that delay, I was hoping someone here might be able to take a look at these photos and offer some insight or advice.

Thanks,
