Klaus Kinski in The Great Silence

Just finished watching this masterpiece and man, that performance was chilling. Pure brutality.

Honestly, Loc’s performance hits right up there with Angel Eyes from > or el Indio in >—maybe even rivaling Frank in >.

I can't remember the last time I saw a character portrayed as truly depraved as Loc.

Kinski was such an incredible actor. I guess you should really check out: Aguirre, Zorn Gottes, Woyzeck, Nosferatu, Fitzcarraldo, and Cobra Verde.

I’ll concede that *The Silence* belongs in the top ten absolute masterpieces of the genre, though I could never quite wrap my head around Jack Nicholson. Calling him "insane" might be a bit of an overstatement, but let’s just say he was a deeply volatile individual.
Regarding your search for a truly depraved character, you really ought to check out Al Pacino in *The Four Horsemen*.
