Because this PDF sub has been flying without any moderator oversight for quite some time now, plenty of users have basically "grown wings," using this specific space as a dumping ground for their frustrations and an excuse to pick fights.
Here is one recent example of that descent into madness: Burning the Quran, the Bible, Unix for Dummies... good grief. It’s just a book, people. A collection of paper and ink. So what if someone sets fire to one? The people who find offense in such acts likely despise the perpetrators enough to toss them into a high-heat industrial furnace anyway.

I am not disputing anyone's right to hold whatever opinions they please—as long as they stay within the privacy of their own four walls and debate those views with their own families—but this kind of garbage keeps surfacing on a loop. After a post like that, how is someone who is genuinely offended by the public burning of religious or historical texts supposed to react without looking like a literal furnace worker?!

Well, if you pick up a pen instead of a shovel to write your reply, you probably won't look like a furnace worker. But hey, who knows.

The answer is simple: it's the "original post"—the thread itself—followed by every single comment opposing public burnings and those kinds of provocations.🙄

Accordingly, there’s no need for some overly polite, sugar-coated rebuttal here. Such a heavy-handed insult is aimed at every previous post, and effectively, at the entire community of users. Do I really need to provide further clarification, or should I draw it out for you?

The point is this: the so-called "alternative" board hasn't had a moderator for three or four months. Because of that, people flock there to dump their garbage without any fear of sanctions. It’s exactly like someone dumping old tires and a broken stove into the ocean in the middle of the night. You really ought to read through the other posts over there, where users were calling themselves fascists and Nazis for weeks on end without facing a single obstacle. What more do you need?

Why is this even being discussed on the Alternative board? This "pastor" figure—who, let’s be honest, barely leads a congregation of fifty people 🙄—isn't some unique provocateur. He's just another face in the crowd. What does this actually have to do with the Alternative section? Modern media outlets thrive on sensationalism; they'll take any tiny spark and turn it into a forest fire just to drive clicks. I don't see a conspiracy here, so I fail to understand why this hasn't been moved to a more appropriate subforum. On a separate note, I do agree that the board needs more moderators. People are drifting off-topic far too often.

😂😂😂

Noah Ruiz73 said:Look, I’m not going to sit here and tell anyone what they can or cannot think. Honestly, people should feel free to hold whatever opinions they want—as long as they keep those debates behind closed doors within their own homes. That’s their business. But this kind of absolute garbage? It keeps happening over and over again in cycles. It's exhausting. After seeing a post like that, how is someone supposed to react to the public burning of religious and historical books without looking like they’re just some mindless fanatic? I mean, seriously. If you want to call out that kind of behavior without coming off as an extremist, what’s the move?

😂😂😂

Man, what was it about my post that actually offended you so much?

😳

I agree that setting things on fire is fundamentally wrong. It’s a negative act, plain and simple. I look at it this way: lighting a match or tossing a flare is just one tiny, almost insignificant step. But it's still a step. And once you take that step, you're moving toward the kind of violence that has been committed in the name of Islam and Christianity for over a thousand years. It starts small, but the trajectory is there.

It most likely started exactly how it always does. They began by burning books they didn't like. It’s a slippery slope. Before you know it, you're looking at pyres, shovels, and industrial furnaces. It’s a terrifying progression.
Honestly, those hysterical atheists and radical secularists haven't even come close to reaching this level yet...

😳

Who knows? Maybe one day the atheists will rise up to such terrifying heights that they’ll start massacring entire nations and wiping out cultures just to serve their own ideology. It's a chilling thought. I mean, history is full of people thinking they had the ultimate moral high ground, only to turn around and commit atrocities in the name of "progress" or "reason." It happened before, and it could happen again.

Look, I’m not trying to take a shot at anyone here, this isn't some targeted attack; I'm just laying out my own personal take on the matter, plain and simple.
But yeah, you're right, this topic really doesn't belong on an alternative politics forum like this one.

Exactly—it’s "generalized." In reality, it is nothing more than a lazy, inaccurate attempt to shove everyone into one single bucket. Those who find it offensive already harbor enough animosity toward others to throw them into a furnace. This isn't merely about expressing an opinion.
If someone writes something like this on a thread that—let's be honest—isn't meant to be a platform for spreading hate or advocating for book burnings (we all know how those historical atrocities played out!), then I'll concede the point. I'll admit my objection was a mistake.

In that case, let this so-called "alternative" space continue to exist without any moderation whatsoever. As for anyone who thinks differently? They can pack up and move... wherever they please. The internet is vast enough. 🙂

Cheers!

We’ll be picking out some new moderators here on the forum pretty soon, so in the meantime, I’m asking everyone to just bear with us; if you run into any posts that are causing trouble, feel free to pass them along to the supermods and admins, or honestly, you can just post them right here
On the other hand, since this whole platform is built on a different way of thinking, it isn't always crystal clear where we draw the line between what deserves a sanction and what doesn't, which makes things a bit tricky sometimes.

Well, look who decided to show up, Noah Ruiz73, just a little guy feeling all wounded and sensitive. 😢
Look, don't try to play the victim card with me, because honestly, you act like you’ve got superpowers over there, thinking you can just do whatever you want. You and your buddy—that total chemtrail enthusiast—just go around insulting anyone who doesn't buy into your little conspiracy theories. If someone disagrees, suddenly they're an idiot or a troll, and you guys just hijack the whole conversation like you own the place, acting like nobody else even exists.
It seems like you guys just can't wrap your heads around the fact that there’s actually another side to this that’s going to challenge everything you say, which forces you to desperately try and "prove" your points. The second you can't back something up—especially when it comes to those chemtrails—you immediately jump on everyone who’s skeptical. This thread should have been locked ages ago, because these "truth-seekers," including I'm sure Noah Ruiz73, will probably just block anyone with a different opinion and keep talking to themselves like the rest of us aren't even here. There's really no point in keeping a discussion open when nothing can be proven and the skeptics just get ignored or insulted... ☕

Look, I don't know the people you're talking about, so I can't really speak to that part of your argument. However, I still believe we need a moderator in place. This isn't just about whether we agree or disagree on the facts. Personally, I find myself questioning and disputing about 99% of what's posted on there, yet I still find the content worth reading. What truly grates on my nerves is how every single thread eventually devolves into endless debates about 2012 or Nibiru. It’s getting incredibly tiresome.
I didn't even want to bring up chemtrails; honestly, discussing that feels just as futile as rehashing Nibiru or anything Isaac is peddling. I simply didn't have the energy for it.

Wait, already? 😁
on the other hand, Alternativa implies thinking differently by its very nature

… or—if you judge by some of the current mod crew—a total lack of thinking altogether.

Look, I don't know the specific people you're referring to, so I won't sign off on that particular part, but I firmly believe we need a moderator for those threads. This isn't just about whether one agrees or disagrees with the content. I personally doubt and attempt to debunk about 99% of what is posted over there, yet I still find it fascinating to read. What truly grates on my nerves is how every single discussion eventually devolves into talk about 2012 or Nibiru. Honestly, I am sick to death of it.
I didn't even want to bring up chemtrails, as that seems even less likely than Nibiru and Icke combined, so I simply didn't have the stomach for it.

Listen, since you aren't constantly lurking there—even if you drop in occasionally—it would perhaps be wise, polite, or even desirable to actually read the insults being hurled by the very person you are currently endorsing. 🤷
Do what you want; everyone is entitled to their own business. However, that is precisely the core issue within this so-called "alternative" scene. Due to a lack of moderation in threads that supposedly allow for an "alternative" perspective, we have a multitude of individuals who possess absolutely no self-control regarding their freedom of speech. Because they have far too much time on their hands, they frequent spaces where they clearly do not belong, driven by the singular, transparent goal of provocation.
As a result, we see messages like this from the individual in question, who feels slighted because most people simply ignore him after his repeated attempts to stir the pot:
", just deal with it along with all your garbage"

"The 'garbage' treated me with the exact same level of respect, so I consider myself well within my rights to call them that. In fact, that lot put me on their ignore list "

", though his followers later joined in, turning against me..."

Poor guy, all alone in the world. It's pathetic.

We also had that fellow here who was kicked out today, the one who spent most of his time labeling everyone as neo-Nazis or fascists. He went on like that all summer:

A completely misunderstood and lost wretch in the digital landscape. Everyone loathes him, and he has no idea what to do with himself. Now that he's finally received what looks to be his first red card for this behavior, he is absolutely losing it:
"There, how am I supposed to talk to monsters like 'chembro' when he treats all of this as a joke?"

Is there anything else left to say?

Look, unlike you, I’m not showing up here all teary-eyed and dramatic just to whine about how Jeffrey Cooper7 was being mean to you or whatever... honestly, you poor thing...😢
You and your little buddy are honestly just pathetic. 🤣

Look, we need to be levelheaded here. Discussions on alternative platforms ought to be structured so that both sides engage with the core issue through a lens of scientific rigor and logical reasoning. It shouldn't be a circus where one side clings to blind faith while the other refuses to even glance at the evidence.

hollowtrucker77 said:new moderators will be selected for Alternative soon—in the meantime, I’m asking users for patience. You can send controversial posts to the supermods and admins, or just post them here.
On the other hand, the very nature of an alternative space implies a different way of thinking, so it isn't always easy to decide what warrants a sanction and what doesn't.

It’s simple, and the logic applies to pretty much any forum on the planet: knowing what deserves a sanction and what doesn't.

Trolling is grounds for a sanction—or at least a warning when there's a moderator present. Expressivo has practically turned it into an art form.

Attacking an argument isn't a sanctionable offense. We "fight" with arguments on our respective sides—or at least we should; that’s what a forum is actually for.

Attacking a participant personally rather than their argument—that's where you hit them with a harsh penalty.

Basically, attacking people (calling someone an idiot, a psycho, etc.) instead of their points.
If those personal attacks aren't dealt with immediately, it gives the other side permission to retaliate in kind. Then you can kiss healthy debate goodbye, no matter how heated it gets, because everyone has the right to defend themselves if the moderator won't protect the space.

Then you end up with someone getting banned for their reaction, while the guy who provoked the reaction walks away scot-free. That happens when there's no moderator to shut down the provocation from the jump.

Threatening physical violence in real life—something I've experienced firsthand—is an immediate, permanent ban. No mercy.

Any hate speech or promotion of fascism is illegal under US federal law and carries serious consequences. Any forum operating on US soil needs to respect those laws and enforce them via bans.

The stuff above is universal. It applies to every discussion on every forum.
Except maybe here on Alternative.

At the end of the day, the topic doesn't matter; it's the basic rules of moderation that count, and they should always remain independent of the subject matter.
