So, about five days ago, this weird growth popped up on my elbow. It’s got this red, raised border that looks kind of like a ring, and the center is just this grayish color. It’s itchy, sometimes stings, and my arm is feeling a little tender too. I didn't burn myself or bump into anything—it just appeared out of nowhere...
Does anyone know what this could be, and should I go see a dermatologist?

The middle part is peeling. I forgot to mention that.

I honestly have no clue what might be going on, but look, if someone is actually giving you an answer or not, just go see a doctor. 😉

You absolutely have to see a doctor about this! I know someone who went through something remarkably similar and they honestly thought it would just clear up on its own, but it certainly did not. I can't quite recall the specific medical term right now, but if I remember correctly, it involved some sort of zoonotic infection passed from animals to humans. Of course, there is no guarantee that what you're experiencing is the exact same thing, but I truly believe it isn't something that will simply vanish without professional medical attention.

It sounds like a fungal infection to me, but you really ought to see a doctor just to be safe. Getting the wrong treatment could end up making things a lot more complicated for you than they need to be.
