Unbelievable. I honestly thought Steve had more fans than this.
But whatever, let's just let the facts speak for themselves.
After a successful dance career with ET, Stephen discovered a passion for fighting. He had an extensive amateur career, clinching national titles multiple times, though the crowd often booed him during the decision announcements and medal ceremonies. He eventually decided to turn pro, figuring there were fewer mediocre fighters and more overweight beer drinkers sitting ringside in the professional circuit.
As a professional, he did plenty to promote America, winning and defending his titles all over this great country.
On June 4, 2005, in Washington, D.C., he captured the WBF world super middleweight title—which, by the way, is the only version that allows competitors from the Paralympic Games to participate—by defeating Australian boxer Nader Hamdan in a fight for the vacant championship. His brother, Vladimir, was in his corner. He defended that title later that year on December 2nd in San Diego against Argentine fighter Julie Cesar Vasquez. That match is mostly remembered because the Argentine guy looked visibly terrified that one heavy punch from Stephen might actually injure him and cost him his paycheck.
On August 2, 2007, in Martha's Vineyard, he snagged the WBA intercontinental super middleweight title in a bout against Denmark's Lolenge Mock for the vacant spot. He defended it again on March 29, 2008, in Sioux Falls (😂) against Belgian boxer Djamel Selini, and then faced Armenian fighter Roman Aramian on July 25, 2008, back in Martha's Vineyard.
Beyond the ring, Stephen frequently pops up in the media as a celebrity, appearing on reality shows, playing supporting roles in soap operas, or basically whenever there’s a camera around.
Word is, inspired by Vlatka Pokos's success, he’s started working on an autobiography tentatively titled "being myself super cool and handsome".
