I'm 43. I have to go under the knife for uterine fibroids... they're taking my uterus and one ovary. If everything goes smoothly, I'm wondering what my sex drive is going to look like afterward. Anyone here been through this? Looking for some clarity... 🙂

If they're removing the uterus and one ovary, why leave the other one? It seems odd.
They'll likely put you on hormone replacement therapy.
In my case, because the fibroid was so massive, they had to remove both ovaries along with the uterus. They even had to remove part of my bowel.
Now, I take red clover phytoestrogens and my libido is excellent. Honestly, it's better than it was years ago.
The only real shift is that my priorities in life have completely flipped. I demand much more from my husband now—I want him more organized, more proactive, more attentive. I go out more, I dress up more, I hit the gym harder, and I spend more time on my computer. I'm no longer just the cook and the cleaner.
I deal with bouts of anger more frequently than before. I am actively trying to overhaul my entire lifestyle.
That is the reality of it.

If you end up on hormone therapy, you might struggle to manage your weight. It's been quite a while since I've gained a single pound. I eat whatever I want, but I stay active and I've always been an athletic type.

They'll probably just put you on hormone replacement therapy.

The only thing is, my whole outlook on life shifted. I demand way more from my husband now—he needs to be more organized, more proactive, more attentive. I go out more, dress up more, hit the gym harder, spend more time on my laptop. I’m not just some housewife or maid anymore.
I get angry more often too. Just trying to overhaul my entire life.
That's just how it goes...

If you agree to the surgery, you probably won't be able to manage your weight. It's been a while and I haven't gained a single pound. I eat whatever, I just stay active and I've always been an athlete.
