I was watching some sports highlights last night and it got me thinking about how much we crave the exact same matchup happening over and over again. It feels like every time a big rivalry heats up, the media and the fans just demand a repeat performance immediately.
I get the appeal, obviously. There is something deeply satisfying about seeing two titans go head-to-head again to see if the previous result was a fluke or a true statement of dominance. It’s like a cinematic sequel that you actually want to watch.
But lately, I’ve been feeling a bit of burnout with it. Sometimes I feel like we lose the excitement of seeing new players step up or different styles clash because we are so fixated on settling old scores. It feels like we're stuck in a loop of "who's better?" instead of just enjoying the skill on display.
Do you guys prefer seeing the same heavy hitters face off repeatedly, or do you find yourself rooting for the underdogs to break the cycle?
