Hey there, sorry if this has already been answered!
So, I've got a bunch of movies on my hard drive, but I can't get any of them to actually play. I used to use GOM player all the time (loved it!) but now every single movie just hits me with an error message like USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER or CODEC ERROR: USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

I'm dying to watch these movies, so thanks in advance!

Maybe try deleting that Goom, downloading the latest version, and then reinstalling it...
I suppose it should recommend the necessary codecs for itself....

I really want to watch these movies, so thanks in advance!

Just grab this lightweight little powerhouse listed below and you'll be able to watch any video file as long as the file itself isn't corrupted. It doesn't need a bunch of extra third-party codecs like those other useless programs such as GOM and its kind; just install it and enjoy.👍😁

Tried using this software, but no luck... all five movies just keep throwing that same error message at me!
Still hunting for a fix, so if you guys have any ideas, I'm all ears...

Have you actually tried running an update on VLC Media Player yet?

I wiped the old one and installed VLC Media Player 3.0, which is the latest version... still nothing works!

Alright, try this approach...
First, go ahead and Uninstall VLC Media Player through the usual Add / Remove Programs menu.
Once that’s done, open the Run Command and type regedit.
The Windows Registry should pop up.
Hit Ctrl+F and search specifically for VLC Media Player.
Delete every key you find. Just keep repeating the search until the system tells you there’s nothing left to find.
Alternatively, you can navigate manually via the Run Command and regedit. Look under HKEY_CURRENT_USER for the Software folder, find the GRETECH folder, and wipe it out.
Do the exact same thing under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
locate the Gretech folder and delete it.
If you see K-Lite codecs listed in your Add / Remove Programs, get rid of those too.
Restart your computer.
Reinstall VLC Media Player, and it should work perfectly.

First, just go ahead and Uninstall Program VLC Media Player through the standard Add / Remove Programs menu.
After that, hit the Start Menu / Run Command and type regedit
That’ll pull up the Windows Registry
Hit Ctrl+F and search for VLC Media Player
Whatever comes up, just wipe those keys out... keep doing it until the search finally turns up empty.

Or, you can just jump into the Windows Registry via the Start Menu / Run Command, head over to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, find the Software---Graphics Card folder, and delete it.
Same thing applies under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
where you'll find the Graphics Card folder—just clear it out.
If you see K-Lite codecs listed in Add / Remove Programs, get rid of those too.
Reboot the PC.
Then reinstall VLC Media Player and it should work fine...

Tried all that bolded stuff and still nothing!...
