My sister needs surgery at Holy Spirit Hospital due to a parotid gland issue.

Does anyone know what the daily rate and surgery costs look like for foreign nationals—specifically those coming from Canada?

I'd really appreciate any info you can share.

Honestly, maybe your best bet is just calling the hospital directly and asking?
Their website doesn't list those specific costs, but they do have a phone number listed, so just give them a ring...

I'm not sure if this will actually help you, but here’s what happened with us: my father-in-law broke his hip last summer and had surgery at a hospital in St. Louis. He had insurance from Canada, but since we were in a different country, it didn't cover everything. He ended up paying $1000 out of pocket.

People coming from other countries pay the same way Americans without health insurance do—they have to cover the full cost of hospital services themselves.

Does anyone have experience with referrals? My father-in-law used a referral from a local clinic over in Canada, specifically the Federation side, and he only had to pay the standard co-pay. It was the same rate for Americans without supplemental insurance in that exact situation. $1000

I’ve heard that if they can't perform a specific surgery in El Paso, they just transfer you to a major medical hub in Canada, like Washington, D.C. or Pittsburgh.

If we can't get it sorted out here, I'm just going to request a referral for treatment abroad.
