Why? It's not like I'm some pro bodybuilder or anything.
I'll probably get some clips up in, say, a month or so.

John Moore51 said:Just doing some recreational lifting in a small town near St. Louis😁.
As far as I know, this is the only training I do out here.
I weigh about 172 lbs.
Close-grip bench: 350 lbs
Olympic bench: 250 lbs
Front press: 240 lbs
Deadlift: 400 lbs
Bench press: 250 lbs
Clean & jerk: 200+ (don't have a lifting platform at my gym so I can't really drop the weights; I just drop them onto my quads then the floor, lol)
Bodyweight pull-ups: 47 reps
Dips-bez: No problem doing them with a 75 lb dumbbell (they don't have anything heavier)

Mind you, it hasn't just been about lifting weights; I also train boxing and Muay Thai—I actually run a recreational club over in a small town near Pittsburgh...
I'm 23, though I first stepped foot into a gym when I was 15.
Between 15 and 18, I’ll admit, I wasn't exactly "serious" about any of this...😁
Lately, my training has been focused on fast-twitch explosive power.🙂.
I just wrapped up the Bill 5x5 program, so in a few weeks, I'm going to test my 1RM for all the major lifts. I’ll probably film the attempts and maybe upload them to YouTube or something like that.
To be honest, I’d love to dive deeper into Olympic lifting, but there's a catch: our gym doesn't have a proper lifting platform. Plus, people give you those weird looks when you tell them you actually want to be strong rather than just looking like a bodybuilder...👎.
Jamie Rivera70 said:Those numbers are incredible, especially considering he's only weighing in at about 175 pounds.
OT
Think back to those days when you just couldn't find the motivation to hit the gym.
Now, take a look at this:

John Moore51 said:Well, today was a total disaster. I decided to film my 230 lb bench press for 5x5 to put on YouTube, but the first attempt at getting those perfect reps failed because the guy filming couldn't figure out how to use a smartphone properly 🙄.
Whatever, I'll just try again... But then the next video got ruined by my spotter, despite me explicitly telling him NOT TO TOUCH THE BAR UNLESS MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT! He still touched it during the fourth rep even though it was obvious the bar wasn't stalling. Anyway, here's the lovely footage...
Next time I'm aiming for 235 lbs for 5x5, and this Monday I'll be posting my 330 lb deadlift for 5x5.

John Moore51 said:Man, I totally blew it today. I was like, "Alright, let's film a set of 5 reps at 230 lbs and toss it on YouTube." My first attempt at getting those perfect 5 reps at 230 failed because the guy filming me had absolutely no clue how to actually use a smartphone. 🙄
Whatever, no biggie, I told myself I'll just try again... But then my buddy who was spotting me totally messed up the next clip, even though I explicitly told him, "DO NOT TOUCH THE BAR UNLESS MY LIFE IS LITERALLY ON THE LINE!" Seriously, on the fourth rep, he touched the bar even though it was obvious it wasn't stalling. Oh well, anyway, here's the glorious video.
Next time I'm hitting 5x235 lbs, and this Monday I'm dropping a video of 5x330 lbs deadlifts.

Jamie Rivera70 said:So, we're looking at a 33lb plate and a 33lb bar here (totaling about 66lbs)?
Solid numbers once again.
It looks to me like your setup leans more toward a powerlifting style. I actually prefer it that way too, though I tend to drive my legs even further under my center of mass, use a slightly narrower grip, and keep my elbows tucked closer to my ribs.
With a wide grip, my elbows usually start acting up.
But hey, this way works for me since I didn't really focus on bench pressing much in the past.
The weight, though, is great. 👍
Yeah, looked like your spotter threw you off a bit there. 😁
John Moore51 said:Oh man, honestly, even though the first video didn't quite hit the mark, it was still pretty cool... but hey, no biggie! Next week's video is gonna be even better, I promise. I actually just whipped this whole series together on a whim, just wanted to get some footage down.
The bar is 22 lbs, the plates are about 33 lbs, and if you look closely, there are also those little 5 lb weights on each side.
My elbow has been giving me major grief since I dealt with that bout of tendonitis last summer. It really set my progress back a ton.

The video's alright, I guess.

That specific position actually works for me since it keeps my spine feeling more stable...

Michael Rivera63 said:Wait, for what exactly?
Like, filming myself? No way in hell, haha.
I’m way too shy for that kind of spotlight 😢
