Great, just what we needed—another remake. But this one? This might actually be the worst one yet. Honestly, I’m pretty pissed off about this... how do you take one of the best comedies from the last few years and turn it into... a Black comedy? 👎

I don't know, I have a soft spot for the original Death at a Funeral, and I'm genuinely curious to see how they handle the remake here in the States. They’ve certainly assembled an impressive roster of big names—you've got Danny Glover, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Luke Wilson, Zoe Saldana, and Peter Dinklage all in one place.
I'll give it a shot.

It’s wild. Every time I think they can't possibly screw up a remake any more than they already have, they find a way to surprise me.
Remaking one of the best comedies from the UK in recent years is just plain stupid. Honestly, I have no clue what the director is even trying to pull here, especially since the original came out back in 2007.😵
Total disaster. Pretty sure I'm skipping this one—I'd much rather just rewatch the original.
I bet there will be some idiots in the US who actually watch it, probably because they haven't even heard of the original since it isn't an American film, but there's no way this thing succeeds—definitely not even half as well as the original did.🙂

I'm definitely checking this one out since I haven't seen the original, plus the release date is calling my name and I need my Martin Lawrence fix.

I see people aren't sweating the comedy aspect, but labeling it "Black comedy" seems to be where the real issue lies. Is it an implication that Black actors just can't handle serious roles? 👎

Martin Lawrence and Chris Rock just don't have the acting chops.☕ Seeing both of them in the same flick is basically like watching two guys perform unfunny stand-up routines—just constant yelling, swearing, and obnoxious outbursts that miss the mark entirely... Honestly, I’ve got nothing against remakes, or even "Black comedies" specifically, but these two are just grating beyond belief. That's probably going to be my main reason for skipping this one at the theater.

It’s just not funny. Look, I don't have a problem with remakes, and I don't care if it's labeled a "Black comedy"—these two are just incredibly grating. Honestly, that might be the main reason I skip this one entirely.

Then you throw in some old comments from other people claiming Danny Glover and Zoe Saldana can't act either, so I guess nobody in this cast knows what they're doing. Maybe that's why the comedy actually works. 🤣

Why not just let them release the original version in theaters? I mean, the movie is in English anyway.

I totally get why Hollywood might pass on a solid German or French flick, but a British one?!

They’ll probably pull in more cash by using actor names that actually resonate with Americans. It isn't just about the language barrier, either; there's a real chance the broader US moviegoing audience just has a built-in aversion to European films.

Just a bunch of untalented hacks 🤣. Just kidding, obviously... I actually have a ton of respect for Glover (I mean, his weapon being witty in that one movie was pretty great).

I actually enjoyed that movie with Kevin Kline too, but why does it feel like the same little guy keeps showing up in all these films? Is he really the only short actor in Hollywood who actually knows how to act?

He was actually pretty solid when his weapon being witty was part of the act, and I don't know, he held his own in *Saw*. Most of his other stuff? Barely worth mentioning. Honestly, I can barely even remember where he actually showed up in a role that was worth paying attention to.

The original was honestly one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen... I have absolutely no interest in this remake... ☕

I definitely need to check this out. I’ve always loved Black cinema and that specific sense of humor! 😁

Plus,
from what I can tell, the cast looks solid too.😉
