😕 So, I’ve been sitting here scrolling through this forum trying to do some research on elliptical trainers, but honestly, I feel like an idiot. I just spent ages wading through four pages of comments only to realize the entire discussion is from 2004. 🤦
It’s a bit frustrating when you realize you’re reading ancient history instead of actual advice. Anyway, can anyone give me some real insight on ellipticals? Is it actually possible to find a high-quality machine—something that won't completely fall apart after two months of light use—for roughly $333?
Also, where would you even recommend buying one? unknown

Look, there are 65 pages of discussion on this thread already—maybe try scrolling through the most recent posts? 😕

I picked up my elliptical for about $333 and it's fine. Trust me, it's not gonna fall apart in two months... you just gotta tighten the bolts every now and then, grease it, and you're good to go.
But hey, if you've got the cash, you could grab one for a few thousand dollars—obviously, those are way better quality! 😉

Tried asking this earlier today, but the site wouldn't accept it 🙄

So, here we go again...

Alright, so I picked up an unknown elliptical—pretty sure that’s the right model number. Just one of those budget options,$333 from Walmart, 6kg flywheel, magnetic resistance, 100kg limit... standard stuff.
The main reason I went with this one was the gap between the pedals 🤣 where that magnetic system sits; it feels tighter than other models. Makes my legs feel more natural during the movement... tried it out and it felt pretty good...

Fast forward to now: I'm home and trying to put the thing together. Everything's going fine so far—finished most of it yesterday and just tackling the right pedal today.
Since I'm definitely not some assembly pro, I've got a few questions:

Attaching the pedal to the magnetic mechanism:
When you're bolting the metal part to the pedal, does that nut on the magnetic section need to be tightened all the way down, or should there be a little bit of play left? Like, do all the nuts need to be cranked tight? Seems obvious to me that they should be, but figured I'd ask...

Connecting the upper frame to the base:
To get the top part (the one with the resistance knob) onto the bottom fork, you have to slide the rod into the tube. But before that, there's this wire to connect and a little pin that has to go into a ring inside the bottom tube. I'm assuming that pin is what actually transmits the "command" when you turn the resistance knob. How do you actually seat that pin? Is it just a matter of snapping it into the ring and calling it a day? Because when I was spinning the pedal by hand to test the resistance, I couldn't really tell if anything was changing—maybe I'll notice once the second pedal is on?

And one more tiny thing 🙄 looks like they sent two fewer screws for mounting the little monitor, and the ones they did send seem too short... I really don't want to deal with the hassle of returning the whole thing if everything else works perfectly. They told me I have a 7-day window to swap it for something else without any drama. What do you guys think?

Anyway, unknown for any help. Hope I didn't totally mess 🤣😍

unknown 👍

Hey there,
I was over at an unknown gym in Chicago today and spotted an elliptical trainer they don't seem to have listed online.
It's a Hammer model for $666, weighing 16kg with a weight capacity of 285lbs.
There's also a Hammer for $600, either 26 or 30lbs, with a 265lb capacity, currently marked down by 10%, so it would be about $533.
My girlfriend is leaning towards the cheaper one, but we aren't sure if it's actually a solid buy.

Does anyone here have hands-on experience with this specific machine? I'd hate for us to jump the gun and regret it later.

unknown!

hit up Daytona Beach at the US Navy base today and spotted this elliptical machine that isn't even listed online.
Hammer for $666, 16kg, 285lb capacity
Hammer for $600, 12 or 14kg, 265lb capacity—plus a 10% discount, so roughly $533.
My girl wants the cheaper one, but we have no clue if it's actually any good.

Anyone here used this specific model? Don't want to get burned...

Thanks!

From what I remember—it's a pretty decent machine. Some people were mentioning the Kepler ones...

Anyway, it’s definitely better than the junk I bought—which I'm actually going back to swap out today. The resistance levels are totally off and the little console doesn't even fit the base properly... like, the metal frame is off by half a centimeter or something, or maybe they just paired the wrong computer with the machine... not to mention the welds look like a total disaster, then they just slapped gray paint over them to hide the mess, which makes it even worse. 🙄 I wasn't expecting much for the price, but still... honestly, it's basically a fake Coca-Cola... the parts and joints don't even look anything like the machine sitting in the showroom window.
They told me if something's wrong, I can swap it out within 7 days...

So -> now I'm stuck deciding which of the other two to grab—another Coca-Cola ( ) or this Explorer one ( )
