... does anyone have suggestions for what I should write on a notice for our apartment building's bulletin board? My goal is to soften the blow for the neighbors so they don't call the cops if we get a little loud 🙂.

Ideally, it would be well-crafted, creative (maybe even a bit witty), and perhaps even trigger a sense of nostalgia in whoever happens to read it.

(And no, it’s not my birthday or anything, I just want to be prepared ahead of time)

As a renter, people can really screw you over if they feel like it (if they even want to), whereas a landlord might just give you a look. Both sides can be total nightmares, but when things inevitably go sideways and you need a friend to back you up, it’s way easier to navigate those waters when you're the tenant rather than the owner.

Look, if you’re living in an apartment complex, just go up and talk to your neighbors face-to-face, you know? Just tell them you're planning on having a little birthday bash that day, and mention that you wanted to give them a heads-up just in case things get a bit loud, because you definitely don't want to be the person disturbing everyone. Basically, just apologize in advance for any potential noise and say thanks—it's all about being polite and handling it with some old-school class, like they taught you back in those fancy prep schools.

Oral discussions? Please. I barely "know" about 5% of my neighbors in this building, and even then, it’s limited to a polite "hello" or "have a good one."
Most of them are elderly retirees, though there are a few young girls living on the floor below me; I know because I can hear them blasting Britney 😂, Rihanna, and whatever other nonsense they listen to...

For the record, the local police station is roughly 500 meters from my place as the crow flies 🙏.
But if you ask me, there isn't a single officer working at that precinct. I've lived in this apartment for two and a half years now and I haven't seen a SINGLE 👍

So, what if I just donate some cash to the building fund?
And then, at their "request," I sign my name as:
"Proud donor, Apt X" 🤣

Actually, we could even do a little countdown a few times throughout the night—like, 10... 9... 8... 7...—just to make them think it's New Year's Eve or something. Honestly, it might actually work since everyone is, well, let's just say they're all in their "mature" years now, haha. 😁

Just throw on something dark and let's go—we'll be hopping from house to house all night. Once you knock and they open up, just start laying into them about how they messed with you... tell them you're losing your mind and you're ready to take everyone out if they don't stop playing games. That's it, simple as that.
