So, A Christmas Carol is a Victorian morality tale of an old and bitter miser, Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey), who undergoes a profound experience of redemption over the course of one night. I guess Mr. Scrooge is just this financier type, you know, someone who’s spent his whole life just... collecting cash. He seems to look down on everything else, maybe even things like friendship or love, and definitely doesn't care much for the Christmas season. But then he meets the ghost of Jacob Marley (Gary Oldman), which basically kicks off this whole mysterious, magical thing where three different spirits show up to help him finally see what the true magic of Christmas is all about.

It’s a bit too small-scale for a full-blown Christmas movie, and honestly, I feel like I’ve seen the whole "Christmas ghosts" trope played out in every book and cartoon ever made. But whatever—a new holiday flick always puts me in a better mood. Jim Carrey 🤣 😁

Quick question. I downloaded the movie A Christmas Carol (1999), but there are no subtitles. Searched all over the web, nothing... Anyone else run into this?

The reviews weren't exactly glowing—not by a long shot—but I'm still planning to catch it in theaters since I've always been a fan of Robert Zemeckis...

I caught it—solid enough. Visually, it’s a knockout, but let’s be honest: it doesn't break any new ground. It’s just a literal take on the Charles Dickens classic. If you're going to hit the theater, do yourself a favor and see it in 3D—otherwise, don't even bother.

I honestly think this movie holds up better than plenty of live-action films out there.
It’s just... incredible.
