Some guy over on LJS started this thread and right out of the gate, he was asking for honest opinions—and yeah, even criticism:
SpaZZZanG said:Any hate or disagreement with my choices is totally welcome—bring it on! 👍

The guy is cheating on his wife, messing up the lives of two naive girls, and basically living off his partners.

Even though that’s enough to make you think twice, the real reason I'm posting is because the moderator won't let the thread stay open for discussion—instead, they're handing out bans to users who are just doing exactly what the author asked for in his first post!

I haven't complained about anything in ten years, seriously, but now I am actually calling for an intervention from someone higher up—someone above this specific moderator.

What I mean by "intervention" is that they need to lock the thread and clear the strikes from the users who got them. If nothing else, at least fix that part—because people are getting penalized for giving the exact feedback the author requested at the start.

Btw, it looks like the moderator didn't even bother reading that first post... otherwise, they wouldn't be handing out strikes like candy.

We really shouldn't lock this thread just because he’s dealing with some personal drama and letting his life spiral a bit. If we started locking every topic like that, we'd never get anything done—and frankly, that's just not how we operate here.

Regarding the posts my colleagues flagged for direct insults—we aren't removing those either, because there's simply no ground to stand on. Look, you can't just start a thread and say, "Hey, feel free to insult me," and then act surprised when someone does. Forum rules still apply regardless of whether you're inviting the abuse or not; you don't get to unilaterally decide that the rules don't apply to your own thread. If we let every user decide when they'll or won't tolerate insults, we'd basically be throwing our entire rulebook out the window.

Proposal denied.

The moderator has read the first post along with everything else. They feel that insults and playing doctor aren't the right way to communicate here and definitely break the rules. ☕

As far as I'm concerned, there's no reason to shut this thread down. I’d just suggest everyone stick to the rules and keep the conversation classy. If this kind of behavior were allowed, we wouldn't even need moderators in the first place! Trust me, nobody wants these discussions to devolve into petty playground bickering!

Is calling someone out for having narcissistic tendencies actually an insult if they’re literally checking every single box for narcissism in their post?

I'm not trying to start some big academic debate here—I just want to know, does saying that count as being insulting?

From what I can see, you didn't actually get flagged for insults. You should really take a look at the LJS rules regarding inappropriate communication.

Look, I’m not gonna sit here and demand anyone gets banned or anything—I'm not that guy—but honestly? Giving out a red card over what was said in that last post is a bit much, don't you think? It feels totally overkill!

Look, even under American law, if someone is just speaking their mind based on the current guidelines, they shouldn't be getting slapped with an insult charge just for laying out the facts!

Look, if someone’s out there working the streets and they call themselves a hooker to your face—it's just facts, right? You can't really get in trouble for just stating the obvious!

Look, when a guy cheats on his wife—especially when he’s physically taking advantage of people by hiding the truth about things that would make them say "absolutely not" to intimacy—that is straight-up narcissistic behavior. Seriously! And from a legal standpoint? That's actually a punishable offense here in the States.

Look, based on everything we just talked about—honestly, you're basically breaking the law here. You're committing a crime and just straight-up ignoring it without even notifying the authorities, especially since there’s more than enough evidence to back it up!

Nothing—and I mean absolutely nothing—comes before the law.

Look, I’ve got all the screenshots to prove it—I am absolutely telling you, I didn't break any rules! It was other people on this forum who were out of line, so I'm seriously asking for some intervention here.

Look, if I haven't made this crystal clear yet, let me lay it all out for you:
So, according to US law, here's what you're actually allowed to do in public:
Look, you gotta call a thief a thief, and if someone’s out there acting like a total fraud or just straight-up lying, you might as well say it! You can call out a liar for being a liar or tell it like it is when someone's being shady—all without landing yourself in hot water for libel or slander. I'm definitely not trying to get all legalistic on you here—that's totally not my lane—but honestly, sometimes you just gotta speak the truth!

And just so we're clear—failing to report a crime that you know is illegal? That's also totally punishable. Not a good look!

I’m really hoping you guys can take a look at what's going on here with an objective eye—strictly by the book, please! And hey, don't go labeling me as some smart-aleck just because I'm pushing back against the mods—that's not it at all. I'm just someone who wants to see my constitutional rights in the USA actually respected!

First off, let's get one thing straight: this isn't some open public square. It’s a private forum with its own set of rules. If you don't want to follow them, you'll have to deal with the consequences.

Second: cheating on your wife or having an affair doesn't break any laws in the USA, at least as far as my knowledge of American law goes.

I don't mean to stir up any unnecessary drama. I guess there isn't even anything to debate here.

Even on private property, current USA laws still apply and have to be respected.

Give my last post a closer look—maybe then it'll click what I'm actually getting at!
If you guys really think I don't know what I'm talking about, just go ask Joe—as far as I know, he's pretty much an expert on American law.

Joshua Jones13, just so you know—I didn't get flagged for being rude or anything, I got hit for breaking the forum rules.

Think about it when you have a second—could breaking the laws of the USA actually count as violating some kind of "private right" protected under American law?

Sophia Thomas7, first off—I’m not some kind of drama queen! I just can't stand seeing things go wrong without saying something. And look, if we're strictly talking legalities here, I actually can't even file an official report right now regarding what's happening on the ground in the US, because all those reports have to be submitted following specific US laws.
As far as I know, there isn't even a way to submit a valid, official complaint electronically.

Bottom line? I think everyone is heading down the wrong path here and you guys really need to step up and react.
Not because I think I'm a genius or anything—trust me, I don't—but just looking at all the facts currently on the table.

So, according to you, we should just clutter this entire forum with a hundred different threads about affairs and cheaters?

What I'm actually asking for is some intervention regarding the posts in this thread—the ones that caused this whole mess in the first place—because they didn't violate any US laws, nor were they even illegal.

I'm guessing you're thinking about my other thread here, but that’s not what this is about.

The reason I say "guessing" is because back when I was a Super Mod, I dealt with all sorts of reports too—I had to use my own judgment to figure out which ones were legitimate and which ones were just people being petty.

Long story short, let's not dance around it.
a) Users got banned for insults because they were calling people idiots and jerks. Those bans are crystal clear.
b) You got flagged because you broke a specific rule in the LJS forum guidelines. Also crystal clear.

Because of that, we aren't lifting the bans.

Gregory Ramirez2 said:I shot Joe a quick DM asking him to grab a word in here.

Feel free, but we still aren't lifting those bans, regardless of what Joe says. If the Admin wants to overturn them, that's on them.

I’m really hoping that after everyone has had a chance to cool off overnight, some supermod or admin steps in and looks at this a bit more objectively.

It’s honestly such a bummer because some of your reactions in that specific thread are kind of leaving a mark on what’s otherwise been seriously solid work on the forum.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got to say for today!

Joey isn't in charge of LJS—that's on me, I guess. If Nick doesn't like how the LJS mods are handling stuff, she can always step in. But we've made our point.

Honestly, moderators need to hand out bans for insults regardless of what anyone else thinks about it. Rules exist for a reason, after all.
