I have visited the clinic on 5th Avenue twice now, and on both occasions, I simply walked in and informed them it was my first time; they acted somewhat evasive, claiming they weren't aware a prior appointment was mandatory, yet they allowed me to proceed without any complications whatsoever. There were never more than five patients ahead of me for the actual procedure, so the only real wait involves standing in line just to hand over your referral, whereas the extraction itself is handled quite swiftly.
Perhaps they have updated their protocols since then, as my last visit was roughly a year ago.

You don't need an appointment if you have a referral; you can just head over to Mayo Clinic. It seems like they take walk-ins every day between 7:00 and 9:00 AM, but you should probably double-check. I went there just a few months ago.

I arrived around 7:15, grabbed a number, read the paper for a bit, and was seen in about 45 minutes.
