Political spam everywhere

It feels like this one user is basically acting like a political manchild, constantly breaking the rules by just dropping copy-pasted articles without saying a single word about them. Today, they posted the exact same thing in both the Republican Party thread and the Democratic Coalition thread—just a straight copy-paste comparing their election promises. I guess it would be way more helpful if they just shared the link along with a quick summary or a personal take on what’s happening. This just feels like spam. Maybe you could give them a heads-up if this goes against the community guidelines?

What’s the issue here?

The PDF rules regarding Politics state this under Article 6:

Links aren't a substitute for actual content. When posting a link, you should include a brief description of what it covers (a title, a summary, or a key quote). It needs to be obvious why the page is relevant to the discussion.

My only concern would be that such posts might become unreadable. To help with clarity, we suggest putting the quote or headline inside a quote block. If we allowed posts consisting solely of links, threads would quickly turn into nothing but a chain of URLs, making them impossible to follow.

Posting the same thing in multiple threads is usually considered spam, though context matters—sometimes it actually makes sense. In my view, what you're doing isn't spam since it deals with the two major political parties within a single article; duplicating it like that isn't much of an issue. I might have structured it differently myself, but that's just my take.

Thanks for getting back to me! It just bugs me how people constantly drop full articles into threads without adding any actual commentary. I mean, imagine if we all started pasting entire stories word-for-word from every news site out there. Nobody does that, though—except for this one guy who used to get flagged for just posting links, so now he just copies the whole article instead. It’s not the end of the world, I guess, but I don't really see the point. This forum is supposed to be about sharing opinions and actually talking things through, and news clips should just be there to support that discussion. Posting entire articles feels a bit like spam to me, honestly.

It's totally fine if someone quotes a snippet from an interview to talk about it or something. But since these are such big topics, I feel like we should try to avoid those massive, unnecessary posts. It would probably make everything much easier to read for both the users and the moderators.

You can toss anyone you want onto your Ignore list whenever you feel like it—once they're gone, their posts just vanish from your view across the entire forum.
It means you won't even notice if that person tries to tag you, drops a comment on one of your threads, or starts talking behind your back 😁

Honestly, I don't even see half the people on this forum anymore, and frankly, it’s a much better experience without all the political trolls cluttering up the feed.
Just toss him on your ignore list and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I don't know, I feel like just dropping a link isn't enough. A lot of links die after a few years, which makes old threads super hard to follow since you can't tell what everyone was actually talking about.

Also, signing every single post with "iPhone using Reddit" is basically spam too, IMO.

I get what you mean, but I mostly just felt like there wasn't really a need to post every single article that comes out on this topic. It's totally fine if there’s something to comment on regarding a specific piece, but if the moderators say it's okay, then I guess I'll respect that!

I didn't see anything in the rules about this being spam, so I guess if a moderator or admin gives me a heads-up, they could maybe ban me for good.
