I totally agree—The Godfather Part II, Terminator 2, X-Men 2, and Aliens are all way better than their first movies. Also, since nobody else brought them up, I’ve gotta throw in Back to the Future (both sequels) and Gremlins 2: The New Batch (seriously, the wildest one out there!)

I honestly think SAW VI is going to be the best one yet
It hasn't even dropped yet, but based on the teaser, it looks incredible.

I would offer some alternative ideas if anything else came to mind, but... The Godfather Part II.

Terminator 2

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is hands down the best one in the entire series.

The only thing I can't get behind is those two films I bolded, because if you ask me, the original Alien and Back to the Future are way better than their sequels.
Don't get me wrong, Aliens/Aliens 2 is an absolute blast, but the first one still holds the crown for me—the second one just forces the action too much, whereas the original felt like something totally unique. Though, honestly, we're splitting hairs here since both the first and second Alien movies are among my all-time favorites.
As for Back to the Future, the whole trilogy is stellar, but that first one is still the gold standard.

It’s tough to pick a winner because all five Harry Potter movies are fantastic, but if I'm forced to choose, it’s definitely the third one.

Oh, and I should probably mention that The Dark Knight is better than every Batman movie released so far combined.

Terminator 2 and The Godfather Part II

American Pie 2 is actually pretty decent—maybe not quite hitting the heights of the first one, though.

For my part, I find the Back to the Future trilogy remains consistently high in quality across all its installments.

I also seem to recall that Meet the Fockers was significantly more amusing than its predecessor, >...

Terminator 2 holds a stronger place in my estimation than the original, though one must respect the first as the foundation.

Similarly, b> strikes me as a more compelling watch than the initial film.

Honestly, the backstory for Pig in the City is way more interesting than the first one.

I'm with you on Terminator 2 and Evil Dead, but honestly, I think the first Alien was actually better because that sense of claustrophobia and tension was just unmatched, whereas the sequel leans much harder into the action—though it’s still great, obviously. You really have to call it Aliens when talking about that second installment.

- I actually think Ice Age 3 is great, honestly almost better than the first one.
- In my opinion, no HP movie has ever topped the original, though the fifth one gets pretty close to it.
