Since I’m getting up there in age (I just hit 31), I’m looking to start some recreational training that actually offers some practical life benefits. I’ve been following the UFC since the very beginning. Honestly, the usual suspects like boxing or basic kickboxing don't really do it for me. I’m much more drawn to things like Krav Maga, Sambo, or Systema. What would you guys recommend?

Come hit a session with us "old timers"... or whatever we call ourselves these days... basically just hobbyists. 🙂
Our local youth sports club has recreational sessions Mon and Fri—mostly just lifting heavy, stretching out, basic UFC, grappling—throws and chokes—and maybe some sparring at the end if you're feeling it.

Look, I've been around the block enough times to know what works, so you can take my word for it on these guys. 👍

The local youth sports club runs recreational sessions every Monday and Friday—strength training, warm-ups, basic UFC, grappling, and submissions. We might even grab a beer afterward if you're up for it.

That sounds perfect. I’d definitely be down to work on my conditioning and stay prepared just in case things ever get real. Honestly, I have zero interest in getting bruised up or bleeding, but this kind of setup is exactly what I'm looking for.
