Hey there!
So, about two days ago, I started feeling this annoying itch down south, and then this morning I noticed I've got this heavy white discharge going on—thankfully it doesn't smell like anything.
It doesn't burn when I pee or anything, but that itching sensation kicks in right after I wipe myself... just a total nuisance.
Does anyone have a clue what might be going on here?
I’m really trying not to spiral into thinking it’s a yeast infection or some kind of STD, but I figured I should probably go see my OB-GYN just to be safe.
Is it even possible that my body wash is just messing with me and irritating my skin or something like that?!

Fearing a fungal infection? As if that were some sort of catastrophe. 😕

It is entirely plausible that you have irritated the skin, yet given the presence of discharge, one must assume an inflammation is underway. Is this discharge clumpy? If it possesses a lumpy texture, we are looking at fungus; if not, it is almost certainly bacterial. There is truly nothing to dwell on. 😉
Just head to the clinic.

And refrain from scratching, as that will only serve to exacerbate the condition. 😁

Could it just be that my body wash was too harsh and caused some irritation?

Whether you're worried or not doesn't change the facts; discharge and itching are classic indicators of inflammation. It might not be anything serious, but it definitely signals that something is off.
Seeing a doctor is the right call.👍

What actually happens if you let a yeast infection just linger for a while? It’s one of those situations where I’ll notice some strange, thick discharge, but then life gets in the way—I might wait two or three days before I can even get a hold of my gynecologist, only to be told I have to wait another two weeks for an appointment... so the whole thing just drags on indefinitely. And what then? Are we talking about actual, nasty long-term consequences here? Also, does my partner need to go through treatment as well if we're dealing with a yeast issue or some kind of bacterial imbalance?

Like, I notice some weird discharge, but then it takes two or three days to finally get a hold of my OB-GYN, and they don't have an opening for another two weeks... so by the time I actually get seen, things have already spiraled. Is there any real damage done? And does my partner need to get treated too if it's yeast or a bacterial thing?

If it's a yeast infection... yeah, both people need treatment. It isn't exactly life-threatening, but it's incredibly uncomfortable. The real headache is how easily it comes back whenever your immune system takes a hit...
