Hey there,
So, I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a new rig sometime in the next month or two—maybe less, maybe more depending on how my bank account feels—and as the title says, I’m looking for a build that hits a max of $1167. Ideally, I want to stay right around the 3000 😁 mark. Most of the time, this thing is just gonna be for gaming, and honestly, Fallout 4 is pretty much the heaviest hitter I’ve got running on it right now. I was eyeballing something like this PC setup, but I wanted to see if anyone here knows of anything better that fits within that budget 😁

Pre-built rigs are usually a bad call 😉

1 x KINGSTON ValueRAM DDR3 (8GB,1600MHz(PC3-12800)) CL11, Retail
1 x HDD SEAGATE Barracuda (3.5",1TB,64MB,SATA III)
1 x Fortron Hexa+ 400W, 80+
1 x MSI GF GTX950 2GD5, 2GB,GDDR5,DVI, HDMI,DP, DX12
1 x Zalman Z3, USB3.0 black, 3x120mm

Wait a month or two. Hit the shops right before you pull the trigger on parts, because there'll be fresh GPUs hitting the shelves by then... 👍

Ah, you saw that coming. 😵 In that case, don't worry about the GTX 950 shoved in there... the rest of the build should be fine later on.

He could probably just grab this right now and then just upgrade his GPU later on... he'll still have $433 some cash left over
to put toward it.

$400 he still has it, but without a GPU, he'll just be left with $467 plus a much better power supply and case. That doesn't really matter since he isn't buying anything for a month or two anyway.

Alright, alright. Let Nisan argue if she wants to, but it just hit me—if she goes with that, she won't have any video output at all until she picks up a dedicated graphics card.

Besides the graphics card, I might be able to pick up an Athlon excavator—basically a Bristol Ridge build on the AM4 socket—in about two months, provided there are still some cheap-ass AM4 motherboards available by then.
