Forum points

I couldn't find anything on this topic anywhere. Can someone point me toward the section on the forum regarding points, or should I just start a thread explaining how they're earned?

If you head over to your profile, you'll see your Violations listed under the dashboard, along with your total points and how long they stay on your record.
Basically, you pick these up whenever you run afoul of the specific rules set for one of the subforums.

Look, CLICK THIS and it should show those Violations (or whatever they call them) right there, along with any points you might have racked up.

* A little bit about me * Bureau of Labor Statistics * Violations Contact Info

If you click on that bolded option, everything should be laid out right there for you—it'll show you exactly what kind of violations or points you've got on your record.

I’m trying to wrap my head around these recommendation points. Every user profile has a "Recommendations" section followed by a number—most people seem stuck at "0," while a few others have anything from 1 to 8 (though I haven't seen anyone higher than that yet).

There are two things I'm specifically curious about:
1) Who actually gives out these points, how does the process work, and what's the logic behind them? Is this just one specific type of credit?
2) Does the number in the Recommendations field have anything to do with a user's rank or status on the site? Because I noticed some Administrators have fewer points than certain Moderators and stuff like that.

That is merely a standard referral system. During the registration process, you have the option to input the username of the individual who directed you toward this forum—essentially, whoever recommended it to you. That digit ranging from one to eight simply represents the total number of people a specific user has successfully invited to join us. While there isn't any particularly profound practical application for such a metric, there it is...

And no, I must insist that the number of referrals has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on a member's rank or status here.🙏
