It seems our moderator Laura Evans3 isn't just gracefully leading people astray with fake internet speed tests—she clearly doesn't understand telecommunications to begin with.
Furthermore, she hands out warnings with such nonchalance; she’ll slap someone with a red card for spam while completely ignoring the elephant in the room. Look at the post above. It is an obvious provocation and a blatant violation of the rules. A user quoted nearly an entire page only to follow it up with a single, nonsensical sentence that has nothing to do with the quote. That is textbook trolling, designed solely to bait a response. They should have been shut down immediately.
We are discussing Home Internet solutions here, yet more and more people are complaining because moderators like this stifle any real discussion. They turn everything into some trivial, feminine chatter. At this rate, we might as well start discussing who cooked what or who did the laundry.
In my opinion, this situation is beyond appalling.

Aaron Lee97 said:Actually, the moderator. Laura Evans3 It’s pretty bold, honestly. Not only is she actively tricking people into running fake speed tests with AT&T, but she clearly doesn't have the slightest clue how telecommunications even works.

I was reading through some old threads on Reddit the other day and came across an interesting discussion. It really makes you think about how much things have changed. The conversation centered around certain technical shifts and how they affect the average user. It reminded me of a time back when I was first getting into tech; everything felt so much more manual, almost tactile. Now, most of it happens behind the scenes without us even noticing. There’s a certain nostalgia there, but also a realization that progress is inevitable. We often complain about the complexity of modern systems, yet we wouldn't dream of going back to the clunky setups of twenty years ago. It's a strange paradox of human nature.

Is the AT&T website actually reliable for testing?
And honestly, it’s pretty obvious—everyone who wants to have a say on the internet is eventually going to have to deal with this. This is it.

Aaron Lee97 said:What does it actually mean when someone starts trolling you—just dragging you into a back-and-forth specifically to bait an answer, only to shut you down the second you engage?

300 said:Can someone walk me through this process? I'm trying to figure out where exactly I need to sign up and how it all works. I have that black home gateway box, and I've already managed to connect to the setup page at http://192.168.0.1.

You’re calling this trolling or baiting? That post from April 23rd hasn't received a single response besides yours—and that was just yesterday.
Aaron Lee97 said:Since you went ahead and dropped the entire quote while asking for an explanation...
I think you might be the only one who can actually help me with this. This 😂 .
Unless you actually master all the material—which, let’s be honest, is pretty much impossible—you aren't going to get far. It’s pretty obvious you're struggling here. Your last post was already drifting off-topic regarding the DSL duo and wireless data, and then you immediately jumped to questions about GPRS and Homebox, which honestly have nothing to do with this conversation.
Hold on a second. Before you even click that link, go ahead and finish up your studies at Isaac Newton—or wherever else you need to wrap things up—and get those telecommunications credits out of the way first.

I haven't logged on or posted anything since you first brought this up. To be honest, I’m still reeling from everything I've seen today. It’s wild how much people are asking, and even more shocking how easily they can be swindled by nothing more than a flashy, sweet-sounding advertisement.

Don't take this the wrong way, but we need to get things moving here. Everything has gone completely silent, almost like the whole place hit a massive corporate slump. 🤣

I think you’ve gone a bit overboard with this one, lady.
You have received an infraction at Reddit
Dear Aaron Lee97,

You have received an infraction at Reddit.

Reason: searching for a user in red

Actually, this is just an excuse for you to cry about.

What has this site become with a moderator like you? It’s tragic.
I previously asked how someone with zero knowledge of telecommunications even qualifies to be a telecom moderator, yet you won't even delete posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
AT&T has nothing to do with measuring speed, and don't you dare suggest I come over to measure line noise, attenuation, or distance to the central office.

Why are you inserting yourself into discussions where you clearly lack expertise?
Furthermore, when you are issuing warnings, you’ve already clicked on the primary user group, Moderators (likely by mistake), where you also have [Add announcement], which is meant for announcements and defining the rules you want in that PDF.
Then there is the "user Infraction manager", which is located here: http://www.reddit.com/admincp/admininf....php?do=modify where infractions are actually generated. I find it hard to believe that after all these years, you still can't manage to use the Phrase manager—which is incredibly simple—to update the terminology. It is embarrassing that you chose American English as the language, yet you can't even manage to draft accurate, simple, and clear rules.

Go ahead, honey, keep debating. I’m going to go comment wherever I feel like it. I am not some fifteen-year-old kid for you to dump your frustrations on, nor am I impressed by the fact that you have the option to hand out digital cards.🙂
The ex President was actually great; we only disagreed on whether the Yankees or the Red Sox are better, but he was a perfectly fair and competent moderator.

🙂

I figured I’d jump in here and share my thoughts too.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm all for it. 😁
