Is profanity and verbal abuse allowed here?

I’ve been wondering lately why certain people on this forum seem to have a free pass to just drop profanity, insults, and all sorts of vulgarity whenever they feel like it without ever facing any consequences?

It seems particularly obvious over on those car enthusiast boards, where I swear the vocabulary is almost entirely made up of nothing but trash talk and swearing...

He’s already got too many sanctions against him, and lately, maybe a few more have slipped through because half the mods are out on vacation...

Here is a glaring example of the kind of communication clearly tolerated on Reddit. It’s obvious because nothing was done, even after using the 'Report post' feature and reaching out directly to the moderator—who actually showed up here but refused to take any action.

I figure you'll just delete this too, just like my last two posts. There is clearly some favoritism going on with this guy. But before you scrub this away, I want people to see exactly what we're complaining about. At least three of us users over in the Car and Driver subforum are fed up with this.

I honestly don't understand why you can't see that if your posts are being deleted or you're getting flagged, you're clearly doing something wrong. It has nothing to do with anyone having special connections, as you seem to think... moderation on this Reddit thread isn't related to how other sites handle things at all. And yet, you keep making the same point for the third time. But sure, let's just stick to your theory about favoritism. If I were to issue another warning now because you're complaining about deleted posts in a space where that doesn't belong, you'd just claim someone is being protected again...

Seriously, what am I supposed to think here? It feels like the mods just completely overlooked his constant vulgarity. This guy goes around insulting everyone on basically every single thread. People are being diligent about using the 'Report post' button, and they’re even sending direct messages to the moderator in charge of this Adobe Acrobat file—and that was before this specific Reddit thread was even started by another user. And yet, absolutely nothing happens.

Then you look at me. Within a few hours, I get slapped with a warning because my comment was deleted from this Adobe Acrobat document. I'm sure nobody had to bother clicking 'Report post' or sliding into my DMs about it.

I'm sorry, but there is clearly a massive moderation issue going on with this Adobe Acrobat.

Fair enough, but I honestly don't care about the status of an Adobe Acrobat file if I'm not the moderator or supermoderator in charge... That's on whoever is responsible for it to handle.

It should matter to you.
That’s exactly why we have administrators and supermods—to keep an eye on everyone else on this subreddit, including the moderators themselves, across all the different boards.

It’s your responsibility to flag a moderator if they're messing up because, let's face it, nobody is perfect.
Everyone has their favorites—maybe a buddy from real life, or someone they used to hang out with before they got their mod badge, etc.—and they end up being "softer" on those specific users, which just isn't fair to the rest of the community on this board.

Please don't try to lecture me on my role here based on whatever fantasies you've cooked up... they have absolutely nothing to do with reality. I am well aware of my responsibilities and my authority on this platform.
If you actually have something relevant to say regarding the subject of this complaint, go ahead... otherwise, feel free to start your own thread for everything else.

That’s fine in theory. In reality, it’s been three weeks and nothing has happened.

Just leaving this here as a little nudge for the moderators who are actually responsible.
