Don't even get me started on people claiming they're atheists, because let's be real, everyone believes in something. The Church just likes to slap that "atheist" label on anyone who doesn't buy into their specific brand of dogma, but honestly, having a different view doesn't mean you're lacking any kind of spirituality.

David Davis40 said:Kudos to the concept, really. What Charlie is suggesting definitely has potential, but I suppose to actually pull something like this off—and have it come out looking legitimate rather than just a total joke, like those Malnar schemes—it’s going to require a massive amount of work, deep thought, and actual experience in both filmmaking and journalism.

The whole point of this film would be driven by the specific order of questions asked, leading right up to that big finale where the viewer is left wondering... well, you know. Maybe take a look at NG; they produce some incredibly interesting documentaries and somehow manage to build something profound out of absolutely nothing

I agree... and hey, maybe enough enthusiasm and hard work can partially make up for a lack of experience😉. One ought to stay positive!

bluerider63 said:Please, don't go around calling yourselves atheists. You still believe in *something*. I think the Church just labels anyone who doesn't follow their specific doctrine as an atheist, but honestly, that has nothing to do with actual spirituality.

That’s exactly my point! I never even claimed to be an atheist. It’s just that, alongside God (or whatever you want to call THAT THING), I also believe in the right to die with dignity, same-sex marriage, using protection, and actually teaching decent sex ed in our schools. But, well, I guess for some people, those things just don't fit together...

By the way, you're joining the film crew along with everyone else on this thread 😉 while Antik is busy at work, I'm basically recruiting people for his project 🤣 I just need to actually meet the guy first, haha...

Man, that’s a rabbit hole you could fall down forever; we could go back and forth on this all night if we wanted to. I guess the real question is who’d actually be brave enough to step up in front of a camera and talk about it, because personally, I’ve never been one for the spotlight 😁

So, I was riding the bus yesterday and this random idea just hit me: I should film a documentary about those green guardrails you see lining the highways everywhere.
Call it "Life Through Green Guardrails"😁

Kenneth Williams60 said:Exactly! Look, I never claimed to be an atheist. It's just that I believe in God—or whatever you want to call THAT HIGHER POWER—and I also believe in the right to abortion, same-sex marriage, condoms, and actual, decent sex education in our schools. But hey, I guess for some people, those things just don't sit well together...

Fair enough. On that point, we’re definitely on the same page.
Forget about Motovun-Varaždin or Cannes... just head STRAIGHT to Hollywood!! 😁

Kenneth Williams60 said:@ rustywalker42—what makes you think Antik is some hardcore atheist fanatic? Look, I’m a believer. Maybe I’m not exactly a zealot, and I definitely have my own theories on how all this works, but yeah, I believe. I still head to church every now and then—though mostly just for the holidays. I can't stand most formal religious rituals. 😁I pray sometimes. I even hit the confessional once in a while. And despite all that, I still think this is a solid idea. Maybe I’m an old-school believer in my own way—so what? What's your actual argument here? You're telling people they should just aim to tear someone down, yet you don't know the first thing about them. That's not a great look on you.

So, with this half-baked attempt at "correcting" religion, he just ends up looking like an atheist fanatic. He subtly pushes his own view as if it’s the only one that matters. You get that vibe straight from his posts. I don't even need to know the guy personally to judge his messages—and isn't that the whole point? It's all about him, isn't it?
If I completely missed the point of his documentary, then someone please set me straight.
So, this person is claiming that...

The whole point of the film? To find those "ordinary," "normal" people. You know the type—the ones sitting in positions of religious or social authority here in America, acting like they own the moral high ground. They’re the ones setting a terrible example for their kids, their friends, and everyone else, all because they're stuck in such narrow-minded, one-dimensional ways of thinking. Isn't that the real issue?
Let's show everyone that people still believe in just about anything.

I want us to show that people still believe in just about anything.
And they actually teach others to believe in that crap? Seriously?
He’d probably just focus on the Catholic faith first and foremost. And her little dominance games, the cults, and all those other organizations...

He definitely doesn't strike me as a believer. At least, not a Catholic, and certainly not part of any of those other major monotheistic religions.

Alex Walker5 said:So, look—I'm a family man, I have my career, and this just sort of popped into my head...
I actually have a buddy who works in television and owns a professional-grade camera..
Plus, he has a home studio setup, so he could handle all the editing for us..
We could probably just ask him..
He could even coordinate the scheduling for the interviews since I know quite a few people from various different churches across the country..
Anyway, I'm originally from a small town in Ohio
And I've got some cash tucked away, so that shouldn't be an issue at all
The only thing is, personally, I just don't have the bandwidth to conduct the actual interviews myself
But I have tons of ideas and a mountain of questions ready to go
So, if anyone else is interested, I could lead the whole project and then we can sit down to discuss details

I really want this to turn out to be one great comedy

Such a massive amount of ignorance paired with such arrogance! It is truly fascinating how—based on what seems to be nothing more than a personal impression (which, judging by your previous posts, appears to be built on superficial impressions and assertions lacking any real depth of knowledge or experience)—you feel entitled to present such a serious subject to the public. Honestly, it isn't even entirely clear whether you actually know which specific topic you are interested in. Of course, any form of fanaticism or sectarianism is something that runs contrary to healthy human nature and, by extension, is contrary to God. Regardless of whether one calls Him Christ or Muhammad. At its core, FAITH is about—well, faith. It is a category where debate is essentially meaningless. However, it is quite wrong to judge faith through the lens of the institutions that formally administer it. Churches lead people—just like the rest of us—including the good and the bad, the honorable and the corrupt. The fact that such individuals today, and throughout history, often trample upon the very foundations of the faith they advocate does absolutely nothing to diminish the greatness or the inherent value of Faith itself.

I don't really see the point of this thread, to be honest.

I mean, we already have a whole discussion going about Bill Maher. And there’s already a thread about that call for amateur filmmakers. Plus, the title is kind of off... it probably should have just said, "Hey, let's just rip off someone else's documentary idea!"

🙂
