Green Party - How to deal with freeloaders

Seriously, can the genius mod who locked this thread please explain what the actual problem is?
Are we "off-topic" just because we're discussing legal remedies?
The discussion is active, people are actually talking, and everyone’s being perfectly civil without any trolling—so did someone lose their mind today and decide to shut us down? What gives?

People on the Amtrak forums actually know how to phrase things with a bit of decency. If you post like this, you’re basically begging to be ignored...

I’ve been hanging around this forum way too long, and I spent enough time as a mod to know that when someone starts complaining about a ganglion cyst, I'm not going to be the one picking out the medical terminology for them.

Like I said, I really can't even be bothered to respond to that kind of rudeness...

I wasn't even aware that we were deviating from the main subject; I simply saw a rather nasty comment directed at me and attempted to provide a polite, measured response. Now, I see that the hostile remark is still standing, yet my reply has been deleted entirely! 😕

So you're seriously asking me why I deleted that post where you literally admitted it was off-topic and said you were basically begging for a warning?

Is that supposed to be a rhetorical question, or am I just totally missing something here?

I gotta wonder how you two act in real life... because honestly, I have no clue how you both decided that lecturing me like some aggressive cashier at a CVS is somehow okay behavior. A little bit of basic decency wouldn't kill anyone, you know?

No, in my post—I can't recall the exact wording right now—I explicitly stated that I apologized for going off-topic and that I would accept a warning if necessary. I truly am sorry about that, but the post I was responding to actually included a direct question for me! Why was that post allowed to stay when it is clearly just as off-topic? I am planning to report it; I assumed you had noticed it while you were busy deleting things and locking the thread.

Is this really how you talk to people when you first meet them? Seriously, try saying that out loud and tell me if it doesn't sound incredibly snarky. It’s anything but polite. I hope you don't walk into a Starbucks and ask the barista, "So, do you actually have any coffee?" because that sounds like a total confrontation.

I believe you might be overreacting just a bit here. It also seems like you might have missed the mark on what was actually being discussed, given that you've scrolled through at least two posts right above and below this one without noticing they were off-topic as well. I have no intention of weighing in on the specific details of the debate, as the substance itself is not my concern; however, I am quite dissatisfied with the manner in which this discussion has unfolded.
Our objective is to maintain an Amtrak subforum that actually serves its intended purpose. For that to happen, we believe the conduct of all participants—both members and moderators alike—must remain civil and grounded in logic, rather than devolving into petty bickering and insults.

My thanks to those who will attempt a more respectful dialogue regarding these contentious issues in the future.
