The opening isn't actually as bad as I expected. It follows the game pretty closely, though it adds a bit more context regarding how Jack and Val ended up on the island in the first place. Even the lead, Jack Carver, is wearing the exact same shirt from the game. One thing that cracked me up, though, is that they decided to make Jack Carver German in the movie. They bring it up constantly—probably just a lazy way to explain away the actor's accent since he's playing an American character.

Once they hit the island, the plot kind of falls apart. It turns into your standard action flick where the protagonist just guns down everyone while the military tries to mow him down with machine guns. I'm sure you can guess who wins that fight. 🙂

I’ve only ever sat through one single film by Uwe Boll, and honestly? It wasn't half bad. Tunnel Rats. Look, it’s certainly no cinematic masterpiece, but I’ve waded through much worse absolute garbage just in the last few months, let alone his entire filmography. I did happen to glance at the ratings for his other stuff, though, and... LOL. Thank God I didn't waste my time on any of those.

I was dead set against downloading this film.
Just now, after arguing with a junior—who thinks playing "Call of Duty" actually counts as having a "story," by the way—we hit a point where I bet the movie wouldn't even crack a 2.0 on IMDb. He was insisting it’s a 6. Well, once I saw the actual rating is a 2.7, I finally gave in and decided to download it. This thing has gotta be pure trash.
I'll check back in when (or if) I actually watch it.
The only redeeming quality here is Til Schweiger. That guy really won me over in "The Moving Man," so... yeah.

haha I gotta check that out. Honestly, I actually sat through Postal just because it was an adaptation of an FPS
and yeah, it was pretty trash—super dumb and honestly kind of terrible—but it’s definitely one of those movies you watch just to laugh at how bad it is.
I didn't even realize Uwe Boll was behind it at the time, though it wouldn't have been hard to guess. Might be a decent way to zone out and mess around for a bit.
