So, for about two or three years now, I’ve been dealing with this persistent discoloration on my left leg, right on the inner side just above the ankle.
A couple of months ago, I finally went under the knife for some vein surgery. You’d think the spot would be gone by now, but nope. It’s still there. Even worse, it actually hurts—there’s this weird, throbbing sensation right where the mark is. It’s hard to describe, but it definitely feels like something is pounding inside my leg.
Honestly? I’m starting to think my doctors don't have a clue what they're doing here.
The skin in that specific area has started looking all weird lately, almost like it’s breaking into a mesh pattern or slowly disintegrating. Before the surgery, it was just a grayish smudge, but now these white edges are starting to creep in.
I’m low-key freaking out that this might turn into gangrene or something equally terrifying.
Here’s what I’m wondering:
1.Is it possible the skin is changing because I have to wear compression stockings after the vein surgery? Like, is it just not getting enough air?
2.Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
3.Does anyone know a decent specialist who actually knows how to handle stuff like this?

James Mitchell7 said:I’ve been dealing with this persistent, nagging spot on my left leg—it’s right there on the inner side, just above the ankle—for two, maybe three years now... and frankly, I am reaching my limit! Why does the body decide to hold onto these things for such an absurdly long duration? Is it some sort of lingering physiological grudge? I can't quite wrap my head around it. It’s just sitting there, refusing to budge, and it’s driving me absolutely mad!
So, about two months ago—yes, two full months have passed now—I went under the knife for some vein surgery. And what do I have to show for it? Absolutely nothing! That stubborn discoloration is still staring back at me like it never left, despite my surgeon’s lofty promises that it would eventually fade away. "It'll go away," he said. Well, clearly, he was mistaken! And to make matters worse—and I mean truly, aggravatingly worse—there is this persistent, throbbing sensation right where the spot is. It feels as though there is a rhythmic pounding, almost like a heartbeat, pulsing inside my leg at that exact location. Is this normal? Should I be expected to just sit here and endure this constant, irritating thudding while the skin refuses to clear up? It is beyond frustrating!🤷
Honestly, I have to say—it feels like these doctors actually have a bit of a clue about what they're doing for once... though, heavens knows, you can never be too careful with these institutions, can you? It’s a rare moment of competence!
I am feeling quite distressed—truly, deeply unsettled—about how this area is looking right now! It feels as though the skin has somehow splintered into these tiny, microscopic little webs... almost like it’s disintegrating right before my eyes. Before I went under the knife for the procedure, the discoloration was nothing more than a faint, subtle patch—hardly anything to write home about—but now? Now, these stark white borders are creeping in from the edges! Is this normal? Should I be panicking? It feels like the very integrity of the skin is failing me!
I’ve got this nagging, persistent fear—and I don't care if people think I'm being dramatic—that this whole situation might spiral into something much worse... like gangrene, or some other horrific medical nightmare! Is anyone else feeling this? It’s just one of those things that keeps you up at night, isn't it?
Now, here are my questions—and I expect thorough answers!
1.Is it actually possible—and I mean, is there any scientific basis for this—that my skin is reacting this way simply because I’m stuck wearing an elastic compression bandage following my vein surgery? Could it really be that the skin is just... suffocating? Does it actually need to "breathe" to stay healthy? Because right now, it feels like my skin is changing texture entirely, and I can't help but wonder if this constant pressure is cutting off more than just circulation! 😕
2.Has anyone else ever dealt with something like this? Truly, I have to wonder if I’m just shouting into the void here—has anyone actually gone through a similar ordeal?
3.Does anyone actually know a decent doctor who specializes in this kind of thing? I mean—and I realize this might sound like a bit of a long shot—but does anyone have a recommendation for someone truly competent? It’s getting harder and harder to find specialists who actually take the time to look at the whole picture instead of just rushing you through a fifteen-minute appointment! Is there anyone out there worth my time?

Assuming that vein surgery was actually for varicose veins—you know, those dilated venous valves that just won't hold up—then your foot really ought to be showing signs of edema. It’s a textbook symptom of a circulatory system malfunction, though heaven knows the underlying causes can be incredibly diverse! And frankly, based on your rather "vague" description of these "spots," my mind immediately jumps to tissue necrosis... which, let's be honest, can happen when you're dealing with severe vascular obstruction. Now, look—this is just my take on things given how little detail you've provided, but for goodness' sake, go see a doctor for a full clinical evaluation! This isn't something you play around with.
