Thought I’d chime in—I also have a bicornuate uterus, and my experience was pretty devastating...😢..
We started trying early on, but they didn't actually diagnose the uterus bicornis until I was 19. By then, I was young and hadn't done much reading on the subject—though I had a sinking feeling things wouldn't be perfect. When I decided to get married on July 19, 2008, we made the call to start trying for a baby five months prior. It just wasn't happening. Then, five months later, my doctor told me I was finally going to be a mother. 🙂
I was overjoyed, but he immediately put me on pelvic rest—which wasn't an issue for me. The problem was my doctor; he was incredibly irresponsible and rarely kept his appointments. Just as my baby hit the four-and-a-half-month mark, everything went wrong. The bleeding started. I ended up hospitalized and placed on strict bed rest. My doctor insisted the bleeding was "normal," but deep down, I knew it wasn't...😢...
A month later—at 25 weeks—labor kicked in. I had to go into delivery. I knew instinctively this wasn't going to end well. I gave birth to little Port, weighing only 800 grams. He only lived for four days...😢:...
They didn't offer much explanation. Once I felt somewhat human again, I went back to see the doctor—maybe a bit too soon, honestly, since it had only been a month. We’ve been trying for another baby for five months now, but nothing...🤷..If it isn't meant to be, it isn't meant to be. I'm still trying, but I truly wish you all the best. Oh, and a colleague of mine with the exact same condition is already pregnant for the second time without any issues...
Good luck...

So, I’ve got a retroverted uterus. When I was pregnant with my first, doctors were all over me about how risky it was and how high the chance of miscarriage would be. But everything went fine—actually, it was a perfect pregnancy. Fast forward to now, and I’ve got a healthy 6.5-year-old boy. I’m thinking about having a second child soon, but honestly? I’m terrified. The first time around, I didn't give it a second thought and wasn't even scared. Now, if I were to get pregnant and lose it, I feel like it would absolutely wreck me. Plus, I’m seven years older this time around. Anyone else dealt with this or similar issues? Let me know. Thanks.

Please write back if you've dealt with this or something similar... thanks.

Hey dustysailor13, hi from me too. I've got a bicornuate uterus and a fibroid, but I was wondering if there's anywhere online where I can actually learn more about the bicornuate thing, if you happen to know.

Listen, my pregnancy didn't work out, even with two doctors and one clinic. On April 30, 2010, my baby's heart just stopped beating, and I ended up delivering a stillborn daughter.

😢
I am so incredibly sorry.
Can you explain a bit more? I know this is devastatingly hard, but what actually happened to cause the heartbeat to stop?
How many weeks along were you?
Was there an issue with the uterus expanding properly?

There could be a million different reasons for something like this.
What did the doctors tell you?

I'm still waiting on the pathology report to get the full picture, but I suspect it might be related to my maternal condition. There just wasn't enough room for the baby to develop properly. On the ultrasound, they also spotted some shadowing near the heart, so I'm still waiting to find out if there's an actual heart defect. I was
29 weeks pregnant.

So, I’ve got a double uterus—basically a duplex setup—but they’re fused together like one single horn. One side is actually healthy and working fine, but the other little one is just stunted and underdeveloped😳. I’m 22 right now and I really want to get pregnant, but honestly? I’m terrified. My doctor is already dropping hints that things are going to be incredibly difficult... ugh. What does everyone else's situation look like? Like, what are you guys actually dealing with? Please, I really need some insight here

Hannah, my uterus is just like yours.
That doesn't mean things will go badly; there are women who have perfectly normal births with this condition, though there are also those who struggle, like I did.
You sound just like me when I first found out I was pregnant—I think I was more scared than I was happy at that moment.
Just stay brave and listen to whatever your doctor tells you; stick to their advice like glue.
If you don't mind me asking, what part of the US are you in?

The area around Koprivnica and Križevci.
I'm heading down to downtown Chicago on Petrov Street for everything.
So, where did you end up going?

Never even knew this was a thing. I mean, two placentas? Fine, whatever, I can wrap my head around that... but two ovaries?!😲 Oh, man. Jesus.😢

When I was having my second kid, there was this woman in the room with me who’d been trying to conceive for a whole year. She finally got pregnant, but ended up needing a C-section because the baby was breech. Only after they actually opened her up did they realize she had a single uterus split into two parts.

She had no clue, and honestly, not even the doctors using the ultrasound caught it.

My aunt actually has two uteri and just one ovary... she managed to have two children without any issues at all, I suppose. 😁

Hey there,

So, I really need some help and maybe some insight from people who've been through this.

I was diagnosed with a duplex uterus—basically two vaginas, one kidney, and all the other complications that come along with that mess.

The whole reason I’m posting is because my cycle is totally messed up, and on top of everything else, I’m starting to suspect I might actually be pregnant... I’ve been dealing with constant nausea, peeing every five minutes, and just feeling completely wiped out.

What I really want to know is, are there any women in here who have actually been pregnant with this diagnosis but still had their period?

Since I've got two uteri, how likely is it that the second one—the one that isn't fertilized—could still be going through its normal menstrual cycle?

Thanks in advance 🙂)

My actual question is: are there any women here who were pregnant with this condition but still had their period?

Given that there are two uteri, how likely is it that the second one—the one where fertilization didn't happen—would still follow a normal menstrual cycle?

Thanks in advance. 🙂)

If you're looking for an answer, I have a duplex uterus myself and carried three pregnancies without a single issue. I didn't have a period during any of them. My OB/GYN explained it's because pregnancy shifts your hormonal balance, which affects both the uterus carrying the baby and the other one too.

Kimberly White36 said:My doctor diagnosed it just by doing an exam, then later confirmed everything with a vaginal ultrasound. I know from experience that when you have a vaginal septum like I did, having intercourse can be impossible. My advice? Go see your doctor and ask specifically for a vaginal ultrasound. What was it like for you when you had yours?

Hey everyone in this thread! I noticed this is an older discussion, but I wanted to jump in because I’ve lived through this personally. So, basically, I actually have two uteri—they were malformed, tiny, and underdeveloped, which caused them to interfere with one another—but I still managed to give birth. It’s true, it took months of being stuck in the hospital, but I did it via C-section under an epidural...

Statistically, only about one in 100,000 women deals with having two uteri and two vaginas, which is exactly what I had before they surgically corrected the septum. Pregnancy was a total uphill battle; I was on strict bed rest, and my baby was quite small at birth, but... I made it happen.

So, basically, I was born with two uteri—they were underdeveloped and small, and they actually kind of interfered with each other—but I still managed to have a baby. It wasn't easy, though. I spent months stuck in a hospital bed, and eventually, it ended in a C-section under an epidural...

It’s incredibly rare, like one in 100,000 women having two uteri and two vaginal canals, which is exactly what I had before they performed the surgery to fix the septum. The pregnancy itself was such a struggle; I was on strict bed rest most of the time, and my little one was quite small at birth, but hey, I made it through!

Oh, I totally forgot to mention the biggest part of all this... I was under the care of Chase Bank Medical Center, and just before the delivery, I actually suffered a miscarriage at about 5.5 months...

Just stay brave, everyone! You can do this!
