My apologies if this topic already exists, I didn't check beforehand... anyway, please list roughly 10 of your favorite films from 2008—actually, you can write more or less than that. The movies don't necessarily have to have been filmed in 2008; the main thing is that they first arrived here in the States that year, whether it was in theaters or just hit the video rental stores... please, go ahead and elaborate! A few of the films you listed actually date back to 2007.

Personally, I’d argue that the absolute standout from 2008 was The Dark Knight, closely followed by WALL-E. Mind you, I haven't quite caught up with all those "heavy hitters" that usually dominate Oscar season, so take my word with a grain of salt...

The only thing I'm actually wondering here is whether they're gonna lock this thread before the Scam or the Beaver hits... 😉

Some of those movies you mentioned actually came out back in 2007.

Anyway, if you ask me, the best thing from 2008 has to be The Dark Knight, and then maybe WALL-E follows it. Though, I haven't really sat down with those big "Oscar favorites" yet, so... I guess...

A few were even from 2006 (like "Fall", for instance), they just didn't hit the US theaters or video stores until 2008.😉

I didn't include films like "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Doubt", or "Slumdog Millionaire" for two reasons: 1. I haven't seen them (I generally try to avoid watching stuff downloaded from the internet if I have other options).

2. They haven't even made it to the local theaters here yet.

I have to be honest, this year hasn't exactly blown me away with its cinematic offerings. Most of my picks ended up being films that simply managed to keep me entertained rather than leaving me breathless.
