Ultrasound and exam for period issues

I was hoping someone might be able to offer some guidance.
Is it actually possible for a gynecologist to perform an ultrasound and a physical exam while a patient is on her period?
I have an appointment already scheduled, but my cycle just started unexpectedly...

I dealt with this mess once—had my period for like a month straight. It was bad. I had to rush to the OBGYN because they needed to stop the bleeding and figure out what the hell was going on. They did the whole routine—pelvic exam, ultrasound, everything. It was an emergency, so there wasn't much choice.
Anyway, I heard some chatter (?) about how it might not be the most hygienic to go in while you're on your period. Honestly? Just call ahead and reschedule, or maybe check with the nurse at the clinic—she’ll give you the real deal.

Just plan your appointments for when you aren't on your period.

Unless you’re dealing with an absolute emergency, I suspect they'll eventually squeeze you in for an ultrasound. Generally speaking, though, you really want to schedule that scan about four or five days after your period ends if you want a clear picture of what's actually happening—especially when it comes to assessing ovarian function.

Look, you aren't getting an ultrasound during your period unless it’s a genuine medical emergency or your doctor specifically told you to show up then—like if they're tracking changes in ovarian cysts and need a baseline. Otherwise? Don't go making life difficult for yourself or the clinic staff.😁

I have recently been informed that I have a polyp, which has necessitated an appointment for an ultrasound and a physical examination on the 7th of next month, but my entire schedule has become quite unsettled... My cycle is running late, and since I am still three days away from when it was expected, I find myself wondering if this delay might cause complications... Furthermore, given that my appointment is at the hospital, I am left feeling uncertain about how difficult it might be to secure another opening if this one needs to be rescheduled...

And honestly, my period lasts way longer than 5 days—just to make things even more of a nightmare, my OB-GYN is only in the office three days a week

So maybe they'll just tell me to head straight to the ER instead

What am I even supposed to do when my period won't quit???
