After being on birth control for a full year now, my vaginal dryness has become quite severe—to the point where intimacy has shifted from something enjoyable to an actual ordeal. This persistent dryness, coupled with a completely disrupted natural flora, has left me incredibly vulnerable to infections and constant, unpleasant discharge. My OB-GYN actually suggested I try some Lactogyn tablets to help restore the bacterial balance, which is supposed to take about two weeks to work. Has anyone here ever used them? I'm curious to hear what kind of results you actually saw.

I also feel like I should mention something rather wild that I came across, though I suspect most people would find it bizarre. I was browsing a forum recently where someone suggested a "natural" remedy for female infections: apparently, you can peel a clove of Garlic, tie it with some thread, and insert it deep inside overnight to kill off any potential viruses or bacteria. I haven't attempted anything so reckless myself, but since Garlic is widely known as a natural antibiotic, I suppose there's a certain logic to the idea, even if it sounds extreme.

Not sure about the Garlic thing—but honestly, it makes sense. We probably have no clue how much of a powerhouse it actually is!

As for Lactogyn, they’ve got probiotics that settle into your vaginal flora and just keep working to balance things out by fighting off the bad bacteria.

I can't say for sure if it works—but I grab them all the time and take one or two a day anyway.

Can't claim I felt a massive difference, but hey, better safe than sorry!

There's already a thread about this here:

The last time I took them was recently when I had a nasty infection and some CIN 1 issues. I was on antibiotics plus two different vaginal suppositories along with them, and my follow-up Pap smear came back totally clear—no CIN and zero signs of HPV-related changes.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they were the sole reason—I mean, I'm not a total believer myself—but they definitely help. Sometimes you just need a little extra support to get rid of something.

Last year, I found myself facing my very first round of antibiotics due to a bladder infection, which inevitably triggered a bout of yeast infections... necessitating the use of some vaginal suppositories. My gynecologist suggested I supplement the antibiotics with Lactogyn, twice daily, followed by an additional course of one tablet a day once the treatment finished. I’ve found myself back on the antibiotics again recently because of another flare-up, along with the Lactogyn, and I'm happy to report that the fungus hasn't made a single appearance since.

So, my OB-GYN actually suggested I start taking these tablets, and I've been on them for about two months now. Honestly, everything seems to be back to normal. Before this, I was dealing with this awful discharge and constant yeast infections—it was just endless. I guess I'm just wondering how long people usually stay on them? I think I heard somewhere that three months is the standard, but I'm not totally sure.

And regarding that Garlic... wouldn't you maybe want to roast it first?🤷

Hey, whatever you do, don't go shoving garlic up there! Seriously. Just try pressing a tiny sliver against your skin—your hand or something—and tape it down with a Band-Aid, and you'll see how much redness it causes instantly. Garlic is way too harsh for that area. You’d be better off trying some probiotic tablets instead. I dealt with something similar a few years back. It might also be worth swapping out your soap or body wash. At least grab something mild, maybe a baby wash or one specifically formulated for feminine hygiene. Sometimes regular soaps just mess with your pH balance, wiping out the "good" bacteria and causing a total circus.

Regarding Garlic—I heard about this girl who was using these Garlic capsules (suppositories), does anyone actually know anything about those things?

Yeah, I was actually thinking the same thing about that Garlic. Honestly, my pizza would've been totally burnt if I wasn't careful.😲

Try taking Lactogyn for a month alongside regular Acidophilus doses, cut back on the sugar as much as you can... and stick to cotton underwear 😉

I've actually heard from several gynecologists that using a liquid wash like Hygieia Intima is a great move since it's supposedly perfectly pH-balanced. I use it all the time, and I also toss in a box of Lactogyn every now and then just to be safe. It shouldn't hurt at all.
Using Acidophilus is also highly recommended, and some people swear by applying it topically—just soak a tampon in Acidophilus and leave it in overnight ;-)

So, I've been taking Lactogyn and using Hygieia for about two and a half months now, and I guess things are finally starting to look up.

I feel compelled to share one more bit of madness I encountered online, though I suspect most would find it quite absurd. I was reading on a certain forum that a "natural" remedy for female infections involves peeling a clove of Garlic, tying it to a piece of string, and inserting it deep into the vagina to stay overnight, supposedly to eradicate every conceivable virus and bacterium. I haven't personally tested this method, of course, but there is a certain internal logic to it, given that Garlic is widely regarded as a natural antibiotic.

Well, seeing this has actually shed some light on a few personal mysteries I've encountered during my own practice...👍

Speaking from my own experience, I can say that Lactogyn did absolutely nothing for me. In fact, when my OB-GYN asked if I had been using it after three weeks of treatment, and I gave her a negative response, she just sighed and said, "I honestly don't know what's going on here; all my patients tell me the exact same thing, yet they still hype up and advertise this Lactogyn so much." I used to be at the doctor's office constantly, but after dealing with so much irritation, stinging, and itching, I finally worked up the nerve to try Garlic. And I was thrilled. 🙂 I take one clove, make a few small slits in it, and insert it at night before going to sleep. In the morning, I remove it. I use it without any applicators (initially, I would wrap it in gauze and leave one part sticking out so I could pull it out later). I also tried those garlic supplements in pill form, but they didn't really work for me. I use the raw garlic whenever I feel a slight stinging sensation or notice discharge—just for one night; if it doesn't clear up, I do it again the next day and night. That’s it. I haven't had to see the gynecologist in months. 🙂

That's really all there is to it. I haven't had to visit the gynecologist in months now.🙂

Possible side effects: your boyfriend might mention to his friends that you taste a bit like Garlic bread...😍

So, I posted this earlier on the Lactogyn thread... honestly, they did absolutely nothing for me. Like, zero improvement whatsoever. But then I stumbled upon those Vagisan suppositories—they're basically just like Lactogyn but in suppository form (some kind of probiotic, if I remember right). My situation actually started looking up immediately after the first dose. Definitely worth checking out if you're struggling.

Honestly, I’m as dry as a desert down there. Maybe I get a little moisture during my fertile window, but that's about it. My OB-GYN suggested using Gyanicol for the dryness. A 50 ml tube runs about $22—it's a scentless gel... it works great, but it sucks having to remember to apply it all the time. It just feels like a chore.😢But hey, if the doctor says so, so be it. It's just one of those things that happens after breastfeeding.😕Once a night🙄...I tried another one too, but it was useless. Personal lubricant—don't bother buying it unless you want a headache. It's total garbage.👎It’s just this thick, sticky gel that causes more trouble than it's worth, even though they advertise it everywhere.☕

Since I see everyone talking about garlic... and how it might cause burns... I haven't tried that myself, but I have a quick question for you all😁..
I was actually reading another thread here regarding brown discharge... which, by the way
shows up for me around day 14 or 15 after my period starts. It feels like there's a literal fire going on down there. I don't have any itching, and I haven't had any unprotected sex lately.
Some people are saying it’s just breakthrough bleeding during ovulation🙄 or even just a cold...
And someone on one forum was being a total jerk... I read a post from a girl with the exact same issue as mine, and some guy decided to joke that it was gonorrhea. Honestly, it was gross.
Anyway, to get straight to the point... if anyone else has dealt with these symptoms, could you please tell me what your doctor actually told you about that brown discharge? Thanks.
