Where is the edit button?

So, I’ve been thinking—I really ought to go back and clean up a few of my old posts, maybe tweak some of the wording here and there—but now I’m sitting here staring at the screen, completely stumped because I honestly can't seem to find where the edit option is tucked away somewhere🤷

If several hours have elapsed since you originally published your message, you will find that the ability to edit it has already been revoked. 🙂 I am not entirely certain regarding the exact duration required for this lockout period to expire. However, should the option still be available to you, the edit function is located directly beneath your post on the right-hand side.

Yeah, you get an edit option about five hours after posting; you'll find it sitting right next to the quote button on any user's post.

I’ve been wondering why the option to delete a post is missing from certain threads entirely; for instance, over in the college and grad student forum, I can only find the edit button, while the delete function is nowhere to be found, even within that initial five-minute window 😠 😠 😠

It’s pretty clear the admins aren't lifting a finger around here. They really need to go into the ACP and toggle that option to allow post deletions within specific subforums; honestly, seeing how things are handled sometimes makes my blood boil. 😠 😁

I think I’ve finally stumbled upon a rather straightforward way to handle edits—it's quite simple, really!
It works like this:
1. First, you track down the specific post you’re looking to get rid of
2. Grab the direct link to it
3. Head over to your private messages/inbox
4. Send a polite little note to one of the moderators asking if they could do you a quick favor by deleting that post for you
5. And just like that, it's done!
6. Don't forget to send a quick thank-you for the help
