This is a post written by Linda Miller98, and given how important this is, I’m copying it here and pinning it as a top thread:

"We really need some help for a dear friend 😉
Hi everyone,

I honestly feel like we could all support one another much better if someone just gave us a little nudge—if they showed us, guided us, and gave us specific, concrete ways to actually help. Well, here is an opportunity for everyone:

My friend Branka is battling Hodgkin lymphoma.

She’s been fighting this disease for five years now, dealing with all the ups and downs that come with it.

She has gone through several different chemotherapy protocols, an autologous stem cell transplant, and even an allogeneic bone marrow transplant from her brother. Her immune system is pretty compromised at this point. Lately, they tried some chemo treatments that ended up doing more harm than good.

That doesn't mean Branka is giving up; it just means she can't handle those aggressive therapies anymore.

Right now, she needs a medication called Revlimid. Medicare won't cover the costs because it’s still considered to be in an experimental phase—it’s one of those newer "smart" drugs, and using it would spare her the toxicity of more new chemo protocols.

And here is where I run into trouble: one box costs $7,000. She needs four boxes. The manufacturer has promised to donate two, but she has to purchase the other two herself.

Branka's account number at JP Morgan Chase is: 2340009-3101069429. For the transfer, you'll need these details: Branka Punda, Podglavica 14, Miami. For the payment reference, just use the date of the transfer, for example, 0622.

I am asking anyone who is able to please help out.

And if you feel like you can't contribute, please just forward this email...

Please understand that even the smallest amount makes a huge difference!!! Thank you!"

When it comes to the cost and sourcing of these medications from the USA or Canada, there is one major hurdle. To secure these drugs at the prices mentioned earlier, you absolutely need a prescription from an American (or Canadian) physician. The massive price gap between what we pay here and what people pay across the pond exists because the US and Canadian governments subsidize a significant portion of the drug costs.

Yeah, I mean, I was digging around for the cheapest ways to get it and reaching out to people, but since the meds are needed urgently, I didn't really have time to overthink it or come up with some genius plan. :/

Yes, you absolutely need a prescription from an American or Canadian physician. And what if you try to find an American who happens to be practicing in the US or Canada?

Regarding the USA, the government isn't subsidizing the cost here. The price is lower simply because it's a generic drug.

I’m looking into it, trying to get things moving, but she needs this therapy in the USA pretty much yesterday, so damn it.
Look, I’m just a friend doing whatever I can to help out, and honestly, until recently, I didn't even realize what a generic drug actually was. 😁

Branka's account number at JP Morgan Chase is: 2340009-3101069429. If you need more info for the transfer, here it is: Branka Punda, Podglavica 14, Miami. For the payment reference, just use the date you sent the money, like 2206.

So, if anyone's looking to combine a good time with doing something actually meaningful, mark your calendars for July 3rd. We’re hitting up a bar in Miami for a tribute night—think classic Americana vibes—where we're hosting a charity gig for Branka. Entry is just $6.75, and we’ll have t-shirts for sale, so all the proceeds go straight into the piggy bank 🙂 to help out

I just wanted to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who chipped in for me and Sarah, and to all the other folks who stepped up too 😁. Seriously, seeing so many people on this forum jump in to help means the world 😍. For the most part, we’ve hit our goal. Sarah finally got her hands on the medication and has started the treatment; it's still way too early to tell how much of a difference it’ll make, but she’s feeling pretty good right now. Fingers crossed, everyone—we're really hoping everything turns out okay at last 🙂
Thanks, thanks a million.
And a huge shoutout to the mod for keeping this thread pinned at the top for so long 😉
