Another Oriental western following "Sukiyaki western Django" that, honestly, looks like a total wow !! to me at first glance. I'm dying to see this!!! Apparently, there are going to be two versions... one being what the director calls the hard rock version shown at Cannes, and a rock'n'roll cut specifically for the Korean market that leans harder into action and comedy.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm grabbing both...

TRAILER

trailer Quote : with The Korean Peninsula under Japanese Rul in 1930 S , many Koreans flock to Manchuria for refuge. Some become bandits, some train robbers and yet others bounty hunters. While The Weird, a notorious train robber, is stealing from a Japanese train crossing The Manchurian plains, he discovers a treasure map. But the map is also sought after by The bad, a merciless gang leader. Coincidentally, The Good, a bounty hunter, is on the train, and he is after the bad. The Three engage in a spectacular chase with The Japanese Army, the Korean independence fighters, and the Chinese bandits all looking to get their hands on the prized map.

He should have been a bit more specific regarding those versions. I wonder if the one at Cannes will be more brutal or what?

I'm betting the Korean market version will be more brutal... more action usually means more blood, right? haha...😁

In that case, Cannes should probably go full rock'n'roll... but you make a fair point: might as well grab both! :-)

First review I stumbled upon...

'The Good' is seductively entertaining in the way you expect a western movie to be : Three of Korea's most endearing actors ride around with guns on horseback and engage in a pulsating train robbery, cross-country treasure hunt and three-way shootout. But The films Has that inherent Koreanness ; IT capitalizes on Heritage in a New playing field. Exceeding All domestic Records in terms of budget and number of takes for shoots , IT recreates The exoticism of 1930 sa Manchuria , The Natural born child of The Ancient Silk Road where All of Asia seems to melt together in One pot....

Let's not get carried away talking about Batman here; I think we already have a dedicated thread for him. Let's just try to stick to this movie for now. 😉 Offtopic deleted.

Honestly, the US is currently the best place for filmmaking

I have been reading some comments from the Korean market. It seems their local industry has hit a bit of a bottleneck lately. That said, don't mistake that for anything else; we just happen to receive only the highest quality films from them.

This is a fantastic South Korean flick that I’d highly recommend to anyone who lives for high-octane action, especially if you have a soft spot for those classic old-school westerns. The title itself gives away the core concept, though it isn't just some blatant rip-off of the original. While there are definitely sequences that clearly pay homage to the source material, a sharp eye will catch bits and pieces borrowed from other classics that fit perfectly into this one... for instance, there's a sniper sequence in a church that felt straight out of Saving Private Ryan, and at certain points, I was getting major Indiana Jones vibes too...
What really blew me away, though, was the sheer quality of the action choreography. It’s top-tier stuff—honestly, some of the recent big-budget Hollywood blockbusters should be taking notes here. You can tell they didn't skimp on the budget because explosions and debris are flying at you constantly. The camerawork is steady, too; the action stays smooth enough that you aren't getting motion sickness while watching... As for the cast, they were mostly unknown to me, but they absolutely nailed it, and I just realized that The bad has actually made his way into Hollywood with the movie G.I. Joe. I think the guy has real potential, particularly with female viewers, given that his abs look like they were personally sculpted by Meštrović 🙂

Bottom line: if you're a fan of intense action and western tropes, you're going to love this...
