Two weeks ago I was on 50mcg of Synthroid, but now I’m taking 25mcg and 50mcg together... basically 75mcg 🙂 because my TSH hit 9 (anything over 4 is out of bounds) 😱

I didn't notice any side effects from Diane... and I've only got about five pills left of Yaz... it's a little weird that I didn't feel anything until the very end of the pack. 😕

Anyway, I'll find out next Sunday... if I don't turn bright red from embarrassment first. 😳

I’ve been wondering about the actual statistical likelihood of pregnancy occurring when using a condom correctly.
If I am certain that there wasn't a rupture or any kind of failure, then pregnancy isn't an option, right? Or am I just being overly optimistic about how much protection they actually provide?
I'm starting to spiral a bit because my cycles are always incredibly erratic whenever I'm dealing with high levels of stress, and now this... 🤷

You really just answered that question yourself, didn't you?

If I know they didn't break, I won't get pregnant, right? Or...??
I'm panicking because my cycle gets all over the place whenever I'm stressed, so now...🤷

I heard about one ridiculous pregnancy case once. Honestly, I don't even know if I believe it.
The girl found out she had some kind of STD—maybe hepatitis, though I'm not 100% sure which one.

Anyway, because of that, she and her partner always used condoms.
She still ended up pregnant, and apparently, the condom didn't break, slip, or anything "irregular" happened.
Supposedly.

How that works theoretically? No clue.

I'm not looking to start a whole new thread here, but what are the odds of getting pregnant if a condom breaks during sex while I'm in my infertile window?

If those days were actually non-fertile, then zero.

The real question is how certain you are that those days were actually non-fertile.

You shouldn't even be fertile right now.
You know perfectly well there’s zero safety net there, but I wouldn't lose much sleep if I were you.
Getting pregnant doesn't just happen by accident like that.

I read somewhere that if you have unprotected sex once a week, the chance of getting pregnant within a year is only about 35%—and that’s assuming everything is medically fine on your end.

So, is it actually possible to get pregnant if we had sex during ovulation but used a condom... and the condom didn't break or anything...
I'm just wondering if there's even a realistic chance of a condom failing or getting damaged somehow...

I'm wondering if there is any actual way for a condom to fail without breaking...

I highly doubt it.

So, look, I was talking to a friend of mine, and she actually ended up having a baby despite using a condom during sex. I mean, the condom didn't even break, but I guess nobody can ever truly guarantee 100% effectiveness with those things.
Another thing to consider—and I’m just thinking out loud here—is that sperm can basically stay viable for a while, so to speak. In a situation where, say, a condom does fail during a window when they aren't technically fertile, the sperm can stay alive for a few days. That means you could have live sperm meeting up with a fertile egg a little later on... and well, we all know how that ends.

I’ve been wondering lately—does fertility actually spike once you finally stop taking birth control? I’m talking about that window in the following month, two months, maybe three... what does that look like realistically?

I’ve noticed there seems to be a much higher chance—honestly, I even read somewhere that this is when twins are most commonly conceived—even though there isn't a single trace of twins in either parent's family tree.

I find myself wondering about one particular detail... during those seven days when you aren't taking the pills, do you happen to rely on any other form of birth control?

But, I'm assuming that if we're using condoms combined with the pull-out method, fertility levels remain exactly the same as they were before starting the pill??

What does birth control have to do with condoms and fertility anyway?

I’m not sure if anyone here has run into this before, but I figured it was worth asking... I've been taking Diane 35, but I recently dealt with a urinary tract infection and had to take some Nirvanna along with my birth control. I know antibiotics can sometimes mess with how well contraception works, but it doesn't explicitly say if this specific one counts as a true antibiotic. Does anyone happen to know anything about this? It's making us pretty nervous about whether we need to use a condom—we're both a little worried about the possibility of pregnancy...

We’re using condoms, but we’re still a little nervous about the possibility of pregnancy.

In the US, the standard advice is that if you're on antibiotics, you should automatically use condoms along with your pills for that month, regardless of which type you're taking.
I'm not entirely sure if that's the universal rule everywhere else, though.

Dealing with condoms is a hassle, and we're honestly pretty worried about an unplanned pregnancy.

Your best bet is to read the fine print on both boxes. Antibiotics definitely lower effectiveness, so you should probably use backup protection. I hate using condoms too, but the fear of getting pregnant is way worse... better safe than sorry.🙂
