I feel like I’ve had dark circles under my eyes for as long as I can remember—though they were never really a huge deal before. But lately (over the last year or so), they’ve become way more noticeable. It’s frustrating! I make sure I get enough sleep, and I’m super diligent about removing all my makeup before bed... plus, I don't have any unusual aches or pains. I do have some minor kidney issues, though. Could dark circles be a specific symptom pointing toward something else?

One thing to watch out for—kidney issues can sometimes show up physically through darker skin pigmentation around the eyes, specifically affecting both the upper and lower eyelids

That could point to a dozen different things, including the possibility that you’re just in a bad environment. It could be mental burnout, liver issues, anemia, or something else entirely.
Get your immune system up, start eating clean, and get out into nature for some fresh air.

I don't see any changes on my top lid at all, but the bottom area definitely looks like it's darkened up!

Try boosting your immune system a bit—eat clean and spend some more time outdoors in the fresh air.

I really am eating enough veggies every single day—and I don't take any vitamin supplements, either. I make sure to get outside almost every day, too, and I haven't taken on any huge new responsibilities lately, just my usual routine...! But honestly, I probably do need to work on my immunity a little more, and then we'll see how things settle with my kidneys... maybe things will improve over time! Thanks!

Honestly, I’ve had dark circles under my eyes for as long as I can remember...
it’s just how things are...
but whatever, you get used to it. A bit of concealer and you’re good to go...
Seeing a doctor probably wouldn't help much either; they won't give you a definitive answer anyway...
I think I have thin blood—likely an iron deficiency...
And while my kidneys are fine, I deal with some bladder issues...
🙄
It all just comes down to that sort of thing...🙄

So... I’ve been sitting here wondering about my iron levels lately—and honestly? I have absolutely no clue where I stand! I’m feeling pretty terrible—my circulation is just completely shot. ! And those little makeup tricks people suggest? They don't really work for me—they always look so obvious! I even caught myself thinking maybe I was just being too hard on myself—but looking back at recent photos, it's pretty clear. A few people have even mentioned that I look exhausted lately... It’s really starting to get to me—it just really does... ;(

All those makeup tricks don't really cut it either; they're always visible if you look closely. Even if I tried to tell myself I was just being self-critical, looking at recent photos proves otherwise—and a few people have actually pointed out that I look exhausted. It’s really getting to me... quite a bit... ;(

Don't even get me started on the winter... my apartment feels like a frozen wasteland and I'm constantly shivering.
You eventually get used to it, I guess,
but you really need to see a doctor... playing around with your blood chemistry isn't a game. I deal with chronic anemia... which isn't exactly something to brag about, though I suppose it could be much worse.
I get constant dizzy spells, paleness, and nausea out of nowhere.
And then there's the dark circles under my eyes, obviously.
Even when I try to cover them up, I can only dull them down slightly... they're still right there.
The other night I slept for maybe three hours and they looked exactly the same, so I know it's not just from lack of sleep.
As for the fatigue... don't even ask.
Just doing a single load of dishes makes me feel like I've run a marathon. But what can you do? That's just my hand to play.
Hopefully, things will improve eventually.
But seriously, go to a doctor before it's too late, like I did.
If I had started taking supplements the moment I noticed symptoms, I wouldn't be practically a walking corpse right now. My blood is pinkish instead of red... it's pretty grim to look at.😢
Sometimes I find myself staring at my veins, wondering if they're getting more prominent because of it.

Oh boy... you’ve totally drained my energy 😢, hang in there though...! I think I’ve been feeling more worn out than you have lately... honestly. Good grief... it feels like our generation is just made of sugar sometimes—so sensitive to absolutely everything. It’s almost embarrassing to admit how much I struggle with, especially since I haven't even had kids or really started "adulting" properly yet! But yeah, I am definitely going to see a specialist about my kidneys... and as for the rest? I'll try to get some advice from my doctor (assuming I can actually catch her when she isn't mid-chaos)!

Nancy Ortiz23 said:Well, look at you... you’ve gone completely pale. 😢Give me a break... I’ve honestly reached my breaking point with all of this. It’s exhausting. Honestly, it feels like our generation is made of sugar—just soft, fragile, and constantly buckling under every little thing. It’s actually embarrassing to admit, especially when I look at the sheer number of issues I'm already dealing with before I've even had kids or truly started my adult life. That said, I am definitely going to see a specialist regarding my kidneys. As for everything else? I’ll try to consult with my doctor, assuming I can actually catch her while she’s actually sober and focused.

Honestly, I feel that same sense of embarrassment whenever I have to sit down with someone older and actually walk them through everything that’s going on in my life. It's like there's this awkward barrier you hit when you realize how much you have to explain just to get them up to speed.
Give me a break. It’s not like I’m made of sugar or anything.🙄

Look, if you’re actually having kidney issues, stop messing around and go see a doctor immediately. Don't play games with your health. Personally, I deal with bladder irritation quite often, but I rarely feel actual pain in my kidneys—though when I do feel it, it’s definitely noticeable. Even so, I'm not running to the ER every single time it happens, but you really shouldn't take chances if the problem is deeper.
To be honest, I’m pretty terrified.
It’s that same old feeling, isn't it? That nagging sense of doubt that keeps creeping in—wondering if any of this actually matters, or if we're all just spinning our wheels for nothing.🙄

I just noticed some pretty bad dark circles under my eyes in a few photos today—kind of a wake-up call, I guess. I’ve been dealing with anemia and protein in my urine lately... could that be what's causing it, or am I looking at something else entirely?

I'm not entirely sure what protein in the urine implies, but you definitely have enough reason to worry about the anemia...😢>

swiftmason8 said:Not sure what protein in urine even means—but honestly? You probably have it because of that anemia... right?😢

So I've been dealing with this early-stage kidney stuff for like 28 years now—and yeah, the protein in my urine hasn't budged for nearly three decades. It isn't getting any worse, though... so maybe it's just from the anemia? Who knows?

If only I had actually gone through all that medical school training...😢
You really are quite a pitiful case, aren't you?
It’ll get better. It really will.
