I haven't checked out The Bank Job yet, but I have to say, Jason Statham is solid in pretty much everything he touches. We're talking ranging from absolute classics like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, to really good stuff like Revolver, decent flicks like Crank, okay movies like The Italian Job and Transporter, and even passable ones like Cellular and Mean Machine—he even managed to make that disaster Ghosts of Mars somewhat watchable. Honestly, the only movie so incredibly terrible that even Jason Statham couldn't save it was The One with Jet Li in the lead. I haven't caught his newer stuff since Crank, but I highly doubt he'll ever find himself stuck in a pile of garbage quite that massive again.

Sandra Ward66 said:Exactly! It’s pretty obvious he isn't just waiting around for some massive masterpiece at the end of his career; he’s picking projects that actually interest him, and he clearly excels at them! Even if a movie is a bit mindless, there's something to be said for doing what you love... and personally, I'll watch him in anything he touches!😁😁

It seems to me that you don't quite grasp how 95% of Hollywood actually films their movies...
Of course, the whole point is to land a role in a high-quality production... I mean, there’s no sense in giving an Oscar-worthy performance in a total piece of garbage. You want to deliver a stellar performance in a stellar film...
Your body of work is definitely going to help you land those big contracts for new movies in your career...
It’s pretty clear if you look at Jim Carrey. He spent his entire career churning out silly comedies, so when he finally pivots and delivers a mind-blowing performance in something like Man on the Moon, nobody takes him seriously enough to even consider him for an Oscar nomination... let alone actually win one, in my opinion...

Jason Statham doesn't just pick and choose projects that actually interest him; he mostly just takes whatever roles he gets through the casting process. He isn't exactly part of that elite 5% of A-list actors who have top-tier scripts landing on their desks every other day with leading man offers...
Like most actors, it all really comes down to casting calls and screen tests... The first thing that popped into my head was how someone like Johnny Depp might have been up for an audition, only to be passed over by the director in favor of a more established legend...

I’ll say it again... he was incredibly lucky that Guy Ritchie penned two standout roles specifically for him—much like how Stallone had Rocky or Luc Besson gave Jean Reno Leon—which effectively launched his career into the stratosphere. I don't look at him like some starstruck teenager swooning over him like he's Brad Pitt (or at least, that's how they view him) following the legend of Autumn; I see him as a genuinely talented actor with an absolutely terrible eye for picking movies...

Such an incredible movie... I’m still just sitting here waiting for that moment when Jason Statham finally goes absolutely ballistic on someone👍... honestly... what can I even say? I just love him too much when he's in that kind of mode😁

obviously, the goal is to make a high-quality flick... I mean, it’s not about giving a masterclass performance in a pile of garbage... it’s about delivering something great in a great movie...
and your body of work is what helps you negotiate those bigger deals for future roles...
look at Jim Carrey—the guy spends his whole life doing goofy comedies, and then when he finally pivots and delivers a mind-blowing performance in Man on the Moon, nobody takes him seriously enough to even think about an Oscar nomination... let alone actually handing him one (if you ask me)...

Jason Statham doesn't just pick whatever he finds interesting or whatever he wants... he takes what he gets through casting... he isn't part of that elite 4-5% of actors who get top-tier scripts dropped on their desks every other day with lead roles attached...
he's stuck like most other actors, relying on casting calls and auditions... the first thing that popped into my head was that actor who auditioned for Alfred in Batman Begins but didn't impress the director, so they went with Michael Caine instead (who was also there for the audition!)...

and I'll say it again... he got lucky that Guy Ritchie wrote two iconic roles specifically for him (just like Stallone did for Rocky, or Luc Besson did for Jean Reno, etc.) which basically launched him into orbit... and I don't look at him like some thirsty teenager swooning over him like he's Brad Pitt (at least that's how they act)—I see him as a really solid actor with incredibly bad taste in movies...

Whoa! Chill out, buddy!! 😉 If you're the expert on how it works, then fine! Okay, whatever!! It's not like I'm some Hollywood starlet!! 😁 But honestly, it doesn't even matter!! We're talking about him here, we should be talking about the movie itself...

Ocean's Eleven 4,5/5 - Trailer.
If a movie kicks off with T. Rex's "Get It On" and a threesome, you already know it's going to be a blast. All jokes aside, even though Ocean's Eleven is a legitimately fun, classic American gangster film in the vein of The Lavender Hill Mob, The Ladykillers, or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, there's something extra here. What sets this one apart from those other flicks is that it's actually based on a true story from 1971, when a crew robbed a bank in New York City. The money vanished without a trace, and the whole thing was supposedly swept under the rug because it had ties to the Royal Family.
Old-school director Roger Donaldson proves once again he knows exactly what he's doing. He delivered this breezy, fun flick that works because it doesn't try too hard. The cast is solid, and even without much action, Jason Statham absolutely kills it. It’s got that perfect 70s vibe—everything from the threads to the soundtrack feels spot on. The plot is straightforward and avoids those ridiculous, unbelievable twists you see nowadays. Honestly? Just a good time.
