I’m not even sure if this topic has been posted yet, but hey, better safe than sorry, right? 🙂
So, I was on Yasmin for five months, then my OBGYN switched me over to Logest about four months ago because I was bleeding every other month... basically because of some "insufficient hormone dose" thing. But then it turns out Logest actually has less, so now I'm just sitting here totally confused by his logic...
If you guys have any experiences or advice, please let me know 🙂

It might actually be due to breakthrough bleeding rather than the dose being too low....

If you’ve been taking Yasmin, you should expect some bleeding every month....The routine is basically three weeks on and then one week off, and you'll bleed during that break period. It isn't technically a "real" period, but it serves as a sort of uterine cleansing, I suppose.

If anyone has experiences or advice, please share!🙂

Ugh, tell me about it...

From what I've heard, Yasmin has some of the lowest hormone levels out there. And look, if you're confused, just go ask your doctor directly... Seriously, I feel like I'm repeating myself constantly here. There's already a massive thread about this on Reddit.

If you're on Yasmin, you're supposed to bleed every month... basically, you take it for three weeks and then have a one-week break, and that's when the bleeding happens... it's not technically a "real" period... but it's still like a monthly reset...

Oh my god, damn. Bleeding for an ENTIRE MONTH every other month isn't normal! Seriously...
Thank God I knew about that scheduled break, but what you're describing sounds like something else entirely...

I am thankful I know about that gap period, but what you are describing sounds like something else entirely.

Well then, honey, why don't you explain how you're actually bleeding? From what I gathered, you were saying you bleed a little bit every two months...

it goes like this😛I finish one pack, right? ...get my period during the 7-day break... then I start a new pack, and after maybe 2 or 3 pills, I end up bleeding for the entire month until I start the next pack. That’s how it was with Yasmin, every other month... damn...

I know I’m probably being a total drag to myself here 😠, but for the sake of everyone else in this group, I need to say this again: Yasmin actually has a much higher hormone dose than Logest, Cilest, or whatever else you're looking at.
If your doctor told you to stick with Logest because they claimed Yasmin was too strong, you really ought to take that up with them directly 🤷—it’s most likely just a case where someone didn't bother checking the actual ingredients and just assumed it was true because "everyone says" Yasmin is the low-dose option.
Personally, I think sticking to the lower-dose ones like Logest is the better move, though honestly, that might not solve your specific issue. You really need to dig into why you're bleeding; if it's breakthrough bleeding, it could just be your body adjusting to the pill (even though five months is a long time to still be adjusting), but it could also point to something more serious—for me, it ended up being a symptom of endometriosis.
And, just my two cents: if you aren't taking these for a specific medical necessity like PCOS or endometriosis, you should probably just ditch the toxic stuff altogether 👎.

My gynecologist eventually put me on Yasmin after I went through a whole battery of blood tests ordered by my endocrinologist. Before settling on that, I cycled through Logest and two other brands—I can't recall the names offhand—but we finally landed on Yasmin. He explained that, given my specific profile, it was the most appropriate oral contraceptive available. Since making the switch, those debilitating menstrual cycles I used to suffer through have vanished. In the past, almost every month (and I always took at least three packs to see if they actually worked), I felt absolutely miserable. It wasn't just cramps; it would wreck my libido, trigger intense food cravings, mess with how fast my hair grew, and cause these massive, unpredictable mood swings that weren't just typical PMS, but would hit me out of nowhere. I also dealt with brutal migraines during those windows.

So, in my humble opinion, and based strictly on the data from my endocrine workup, Yasmin has provided the best results for me. I think it’s absolutely vital that a doctor lands on the right diagnosis, especially for anyone dealing with skin issues or other systemic symptoms alongside their cycle problems.

I truly hope the original poster ends up choosing the option that best serves her specific needs and overall health.

I honestly have nothing but praise for Yasmin. I used to deal with those ridiculous hormonal shifts from Diana that caused me to pack on 15 pounds in a single year... plus the mood swings, the tanked libido, all that nonsense. But after using Yasmin for a few months, I actually started dropping weight. I’ve lost 10 pounds over the last 10 months without even touching my diet. No more bouts of depression, my libido is back to normal (actually, maybe a little too high...), no acne, and zero water retention issues.

I’m on Logitech and honestly? I haven't had a single issue. Like, zero extra weight gain, no breakouts—my face is totally clear—and I don't have to deal with any annoying excess hair growth...
At the end of the day, I really think it just comes down to the individual—everyone's body reacts to different pills in its own way.

So, I just started taking Yasmin a few days ago—my first time ever on birth control pills.
I’m curious to hear what you guys think... though I know it’s all super individual,
like, some people get hit with nasty side effects while others feel totally fine.

Anyway, God help me 🙂

I just went to take my pill and realized I’ve been taking it since Friday, but today is Thursday... which means I think I accidentally took two pills on the same day a little while ago. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and, honestly, just kind of foolish right now. Does anyone know what the consequences might be? And what should I do about the fact that I'll be one pill short at the end of my cycle? I'm really worried and could use some help... 😢

placidgardener99 said:Look, I know I’m being a total pain in the ass and basically being my own 😠, but for the sake of this community, I’m saying it again: Yasmin actually has more (way more) hormones than Logitech, Celia, etc.
If your doctor prescribed you Logitech because they claimed Yasmin’s dose was too low, then you need to take it up with them🤷—but let’s be real, most people are too lazy to actually read the ingredients, and since "everyone says" Yasmin is the lowest hormone pill out there, they just take it for granted.
Personally, I think sticking to the lower hormone ones (like Logitech) is better, but honestly, that won't fix your specific issue. You really need to dig into why you're bleeding. If it's breakthrough bleeding, it could just be your body adjusting—even though you should've been past that after five months—but it could also be something more serious (for me, it ended up being an endometriosis symptom).
And my two cents at the end of the day: if you aren't taking these for a medical necessity (PCOS, endometriosis, whatever), just quit taking that poison 👎.

Thank God we have some informed people here who actually realize Logitech has the lowest hormone level! Hallelujah! Yasmin is just a trendy name, nothing else, and all that crap about how it doesn't make you gain weight isn't even true. Birth control pills are just pills, they just have different compositions. Also, Yasmin doesn't have fewer hormones than Triquilar, because the hormone dose is identical; Yasmin just has a different secondary hormone in it. People, please—actually read the official pages, listen to various doctor opinions, and check your prescriptions so you stop being so uninformed!😁

Then why on earth was everyone making such a huge deal about how Yasmin had the lowest hormone dose and all that other nonsense...? Total waste of breath.

Jamie Barnes60 said:Then why was there all that hype about how Yasmin has the lowest hormone dose and whatever else...? Just total nonsense.

Look, they're expensive, and let's be real—OB-GYNs get kickbacks, so they start pushing certain brands harder, which is basically how the whole Yasmin craze started. That’s the only way I can make sense of it. Most decent doctors will tell you straight up that Yasmin isn't actually the low-hormone option; they'll point you toward Logitech instead. I used to believe the myth that Yasmin was the lowest dose because I read it on forums here and heard it from other girls, but once I actually looked into what the top-tier specialists were saying about the whole thing, I realized the truth.

I remember scrolling through all those health columns and news articles back when they first hit the shelves—people were saying that Yasmin was basically the gold standard because it’s got such a low hormone profile. The whole pitch was that you wouldn't deal with that sudden, frustrating weight gain you get from other brands out there.

Jamie Barnes60 said:I've read in various newspapers right when they first came out that Yasmin is supposedly the safest choice because it has the lowest hormone levels—that you won't deal with weight gain like you do with other pills and things like that.

Let’s settle this once and for all: Yasmin doesn't actually have the lowest hormone content. It actually has more estrogen than many other tablets; the reason people don't gain weight is due to a specific type of progestin—drospirenone—which helps prevent fluid retention.

The estrogen is more or less the same across most pills—the only real difference is the dosage—so what determines how well you tolerate them is really the type of progestin used. In that regard, Yasmin is a newer, high-quality option.

For those who find the estrogen in Yasmin to be too much—the solution is Yasminelle—it's available in the States and contains about a third less estrogen while maintaining the same amount of drospirenone.

I was on Yasmin for about six months, and honestly, I have absolutely nothing good to say about it... Should I even mention that my OB-GYN prescribed it without running a single test first?
Basically, I ended up with a case of Candida, and I had no clue what caused it until I saw other women here on the forum dealing with the exact same thing... Clearly, there’s just way too much hormone for my body to handle.
When I asked my doctor if the pill could be the culprit, she just gave me some vague "I'm not sure, but probably not" answer—you know, the whole "it could be a million different things" routine. She didn't actually notice anything was wrong until I brought it up; she was busy treating me for Gardner instead—how on earth did she miss that? I mean, I’m pretty sure I would've noticed if I smelled like a dead fish, for God's sake.
Then, a lovely lady on this forum recommended Logitech because they have lower hormone levels than Yasmin, and now everything is perfectly fine. 😍
Plus, they're cheaper, haha.

I honestly don't get how a pill with higher hormone levels, like Yasmin, can somehow boost your libido while simultaneously having less of an impact on weight gain, especially when hormones are pretty much notorious for doing the exact opposite to both.

Then again, I suppose different brands hit everyone differently and it’s all highly individual. But look, if I were the gynecologist here, my first move would be to suggest something with the absolute minimum amount of hormones necessary, and only if that fails would I even think about switching to something stronger. It just baffles me why some doctors jump straight to prescribing Yasmin as a first resort without running any actual tests 😕

(There are probably a few reasons for this. Maybe it's genuine ignorance, maybe they just don't care, or maybe they're getting some kind of kickback from the pharmaceutical reps. Honestly, that happens more often than people care to admit)
