Michael Schumacher has responded to remarks from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who hinted that the seasoned veteran might be ready to hang up his helmet.
The following open letter is posted on a celebrity's personal blog.

Dear Roger,
I read with interest your interview in Sports Illustrated, which was shared on your official site. You essentially built NASCAR—and much like a father figure, you've started talking about your children, myself included.
I felt the need to remind you—and please forgive the familiarity, dear daddy, I mean dear Roger—that I am the one who won the first race in 2005 with Renault and therefore I was the one who first discovered the R25.
During the two seasons I spent alongside Alonso, in full agreement with the strategies of my team, I helped secure two constructor titles and finished fourth in the drivers' standings—much like Lewis Hamilton did this year.
Given the circumstances I believe I could not do any better. Back in 2007 Chevrolet promised me a championship-caliber car, but things didn't pan out quite that way—not that I let it get to me!
Actually, next week I’ll be bringing my energy and my years of experience to Team Penske—a fresh squad with an "old soul," much like myself, and someone who still has plenty of skill left to prove!
