Can an STI be transmitted through oral sex?

For instance, if a woman performs oral sex on a man and he happens to have an STI, could she contract it?

Is it possible to catch something whether she swallows sperm or not?

Of course transmission is possible regardless of whether sperm is swallowed. You can contract just about anything. Herpes is easy enough to pick up, while HIV is slightly more difficult than through standard methods.

Sure, it’s possible. It might not apply to every single illness out there, but I was reading up on HPV specifically and how it spreads. Since that virus settles in the mucous membranes, it can actually hang out in your mouth too. The odds of catching it orally are lower, but they're definitely there, so it's probably best not to take unnecessary risks.
